Stay safe Dusty, I'm not sure if I'll make it this year, I pulled a muscle in my back picking up a piece of paper and am hoping I'll get a cure by the weekend. I feel like I've been kicked down the street. I wouldn't mind but I just paid for my extended health for out of country care, got a new tent replaced my cooking gear and even sprung for a GPS, new tire on the way. It's the pits

Greetings from Auburn, CA! :waving:

Gee, that sucks, Colm!  :(....  but ya have to look after the ole bod 1st and foremost!

Weather and scenery has bee nothing short of excellent

From Sunset Bay State Park(Coos Bay) I spent the night at Crater Lake NP and then I spent last night at Lassen Volcanic NP, in Northern California. I went for a small hike around the lake at the campground(Manzinita) and when I got back to my campsite, I spot a fella with a ST 1300 next to my site. We got chatting, as all bikers tend to do and although he was originally headed north, he decided to ride with me and show me some of the local rides. We  headed south through the park on 89 and cut off at Graeagle and cut down to 49, along some pretty spectacular twisty and scenic pavement!! right now we are at his place in Auburn so he can pick up a few things and the head out tomorrow, heading south on 49, towards Yosemite, or ??? I made a change in plans about visiting Lake Tahoe, seeing as it will be a zoo, being a long weekend and all :gunhead:... just rollin with what's available at present, making sure to keep a date with a steak  and a couple of friends in Hurricane on the 11th!!;)

Later, Dusty

Hey Dusty, you're in my town.  Wish I'd known, I would have put you up for the night.  Well, sounds like you met a new friend here anyway, and I'll see you in Montrose.

I'm jealous, I don't get to hit the road until Sunday the 13th.

Well enjoy the trip.  :action:

Spent the last couple of days camping among the Giant Coastal Redwoods at Van Duzen River Redwoods SP, near Carllota(Fortuna) and then ran up the Coast to Crescent City and back along both Hwy 101 ad PC 1.

Heading down along 49/50/395 to Lone Pine tomorrow. Montrose is getting closer. :coollep:

Gotta admire a guy that back tracks and travels in circles to see the sights.

Doesn't sound like you are passing thru Auburn again, but if you end up doing so, give me a call if you need a place to spend the night.  You can call up to 11 pm if needed. I'll PM my cell.

Getting closer to Montrose.

I'm now in Boulder City, NV and will be camping at Lake Mead Came through Death Valley @ 4:00am, due to the projected high of 113. It was  plenty warm in the dark, so am glad I did that. Time for a swim and some sight seeing and then split for Snow Canyon SP in SW Utah tomorrow and a date with a Big Dog!  ;)

Great news, most likley a great idea to do death valley at 4am as well, a guy could get into a lot of trouble there durring the day.  Enjoy your swim.  Also watch the road work between St. George and exit 16, there doing a lot of work there, un even lanes without any warning.  There was a really high ridge between the northbound lanes yesterday, gave the car a little trouble, kinda like jumping a curb.  give me a call and let me know what time to expect you.  Have you heard from Mr. Winger yet?

I just spent the last 4 1/2 hours with two of the nicest people you can meet on a Goldwing.  Dustyboots and Winger77 stopped by for dinner on there way to Montrose.  There were many stories told, even some true ones (I think)?, but a very enjoyable evening.   I had to stay behind, even though the excitement was in full swing, and I've looked forward to this trip for 10 months, the gods just couldnt see there way to allow us to make the trip with them.  But there on there way in the morning, Thanks for gracing us with your presents guy's, ride safe

Oh Damn, I forgot to take any pictures

Yup, Dave and I are here. The establishment here were having some difficulties with their WiFi hosts, but that is finally cleared up

Thanks Dawson for the great meal and blessing us both with such  gracious and generous hospitality. It was great to meet you, Jamie and your family and to finally put a face to a name.

Dave and I did a great ride yesterday(10hrs, 400miles) and I would say it ranked right up there in the top 3 greatest rides  I've ever done, but you'll have to wait for the pics. ;)

Thought I'd continue on with this thread, now that Roger(ponymanr) left for home.

Yesterday I got a new Dunlop E3 installed at Rice Honda, Rapid City SD( 1 hour, $215 installed/balanced/Tax and out the door) I made my way down to Custer, SD and made camp at Tall Pines Campground for 2 nights(deer roaming all through the camp). I rode up through Deadwood/Lead and rode the Spearfish Canyon(twice) before heading back to a chily camp(5500' el). It was 34* this morning when I woke up.

Think I'll ride the Needles Highway and Custer State Park today(with my heated gear on!) and then try and decide where I'll make camp tomorrow. Somewhere east is all I know at tis point.

Dusty
