I will echo Sir Pete, It all depends on my personal economy.  I'm going to make at least 1 trip next year, even if it kills me

Not sure if I can do both anyway, and this one is a hell of a lot closer than upstate Ny.

:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1: Who you callin' "Sir", my friend? :D You took good care of my new friends Dust All Over His Boots, and of course, WingerDinger 77, DESPITE the fact that they won't "spill the beans" about their "encounter"! :dude:

Well, ok....they were YOUR friends, first! (They were just a figment of my imagination, until NASSIR2).

Don't go on a trip, even if it kills ya...that's above and beyond the call o' duty! ;) Something will work out for you, and if you head this way, there'll be some serious karmic "payback" due you.

We are going to be, I'm sure, a small and personable group, vs. the large and personable group at NASSIR3...if that affects your thinking....:D

Of course, you may have to put up with Exavid (Paul), but...that just comes with the territory! :cooldevil: He KNOWS I'm kidding (mostly), and he's great! :action:

Pete my friend you are partially correct, but it does depend on the year.  NaturalyGW and I did the North Cascades highway this year on Memorial weekend.  There were still about 8' piles of snow on the side of the road at the top, but it was clear and pretty warm and a fantastic ride.  I did Chinook pass a couple of weeks later, one of 3 times I rode it this Summer, and it was a bit rainy and overcast that day, but still got a good look at Rainier.  Then on July 2nd, did Chinook and White pass as well as Windy Ridge on Mount Saint Helens with ekurtike, Tiny Tim & NaturalyGW, and although the day started out chilly, it quickly warmed up.  Here's a picture of the 4 of us on White pass with Rainier in the background.

and one on the top of Chinook pass, and you can see there is still some snow but not very cold. :)

But as I said, it varies year to year, and August is really a better bet for good weather.  There was one part of the road on Mt. Rainier National Park that didn't open until August this year, because it washed out.

There is a massive landslide, 1/4 mile long, on the Yakima side of Chinook pass right now too, and that will probably not be cleared until early Summer.  I would think that many might want to take a day ride into Mount Rainier National Park instead or in addition.  The passes are quite beautiful, but the park is fantastic too, and you can get real up close and personal to Rainier.  I took a ride to the park in late July with my youngest son and have a bunch of pictures here.  Mt. Rainier makes it's own weather, and on that day it had some clouds while everything else around it was basking in sunshine. :)

My vote would probably favor early August too, but wouldn't rule out late June either if that works better for people. :action:

My preference would be the weekend of August 7th-8th or the 14th-15th.  The 1st is our anniversary. :)

Nobody has mentioned it yet that I know of, but do we want to do just a weekend or should we add a Friday or Monday to it?

John

I think we add the Friday, and that give people the option for 2 or 3 days.

I spoke to marco today. He added another bike to the stable.  He's now got the Strom, the kz1200, and now... (drum roll):band:

a 97 XR650L... Lots of aftermarket stuff on it.

Hit the throttle and go...

Hey John thanks for the PM!  I have been mostly off all boards due to the busy b factor!

"West Coast Wingnuts Jamboree and Mosquito Roundup..." :D

I just saw this and Penny and I are thinking that we'd love to join you guys this year as our "long trip" for the year - of course as everyone else said - economics willing - but so far,so good.

For us, your recent dates are perfect - as a financial guy with a 6/30 year end my longer rides don't begin until mid July.  Penny being a teacher is good mid-July to Mid August.  Would be a blast to see you again meet some more of these motorcycle delinquents - and see a little more of WA!

We would love to participate in your gathering but my vote would be to have it sometime in July , it may be a little bit dryer and warmer. Thank you for the invite and efforts on your part I know it takes a lot of work getting something like this going, we have been promoting a 9-11 Memorial ride from Colville wa. to Postfalls Id. for two years in a row with so much success that we have decided to make it an annual event. Last year we had about 200 riders this year we had about 400 riders, it was great.
