I'll just hang around and hope a date falls in place for me. My wife decided for our 30th anniversary to go back to Ireland and France next year and visit some of those places we never went to together.:alco: My fault really because I didn't ask her to marry me and we toured apart rather than together.:gunhead: (I knew that if we got married we would probably not got out of bed for the three weeks away and then I'd be too broke to go to those places I wanted to see):D

I also hope to be there. Since NY is too far this year.
It would be fun to see more of the Northwest.
Is there a ferry to Friday Harbor from Port Orchard?
Anytime in Aug. works for me.
Gene

Howdy Gene,

I hope you guys can make it.  It would be great to see you again!

There is no direct route from Port Orchard to the San Juans, unless you own a boat. ;)  The ferries going to the San Juans are out of Anacortes WA and Sidney BC.  Below is the ferry route map.  Southworth is the Port Orchard ferry.

John

There are two other ferries from lower Vancouver Island. The Blackball Ferry from Victoria Downtown Harbour to Port Angeles which takes about 90 minutes but it's a 90 minute wait before boarding apparently (I don't remember it being that long last year when we went over, I was nervous about dropping the only Wing in front of all those 20 or so Harleys so I made sure I was in first gear:cheeky1: ) and the BC Ferries from Sidney to Tsaawassen is under two hours sailing time and are very frequent.

The good/bad news from Motorpsychle Pete is that in order to save a mere $500, I've postponed my "let's go spend money we don't have, in Europe" trip until September 1st, so pretty much any time in August is now good, for me!

I've only done the Anacortes route west to and through the San Juans with a sub-one-horsepower bike (i.e. a bicycle) which was fun beyond belief, and incredibly cheap.

Current rate for a motorcycle (yeah, a REAL bike! :D) and one rider from Anacortes to Friday Harbor, San Juan Island is around $17 I think, and about $11 more for a second person (passenger/pillion rider)

Check out: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/

From there, I believe you have to switch to the BC Ferries system, if you want to go to Vancouver Island, and they have their own site. See ya! :waving:

Any of those dates should work for me. Port Orchard is a short 20 min ride from my place.
Maybe I'll take the "scenic route" though Leavenworth. :action:

:)  If anybody's up for a long ride, Leavenworth and the North Cascades highway should be an option. :action:

Not that I know of, but I think we're pretty close.  Doesn't look like much more is happening on the poll.  I'm not sure where we stand as far as when the poll will end.  We had a few mods get involved trying to help get it reopened, so I'm not sure when the end date is.  Can you tell UBarW?

John

So who do we address the note too?  The boss at work or the boss at home. ;)

John

The boss at home.  I sleep with her.  I haven't worked for wages for about 8 years and if I were working I wouldn't care, I wouldn't be sleeping with them.

I was thinking something was wrong with my account.  I hadn't been notified of posts on this thread.  Then I noticed I forgot to check the notify me by email.  I don't remember of having this kind of problems when I was younger......OH S#@*, computers weren't around then!

The poll has closed, and it looks like August 6-8th is it. That's a Friday through Sunday, hopefully far enough away from NASSIR3 back east that those who'd like to attend both, can.

Apologies, to anyone who can't make it; it's obviously impossible to come up with a date that suits everyone. Hopefully, some additional folks will see the on-going thread on the actual event, and decide to show up, if they can.

Thanks to everyone who voted! :waving:
