Note date change, seems July is too busy for most folks.  Jun 18 Friday.

I'm having the wife bring the camper up when she gets off work Friday, you can only take sleeping on the ground for so many years and I'm well past that yr.

A nice ride would be to head east along the Lake Michigan shoreline into the Upper Pennisula of Michigan over to Sault Ste. Marie, Mi./Ontario. From there you have a couple of options.

1. Go west along the Lake Superior Shoreline to Duluth, Minn. and cross back into Canada. Short trip

2. Cross into Ontario and take Hwy 17 west towards Thunder Bay, Ontario  and home.

3. Cross into Ontario, Visit Manitoulin Island, take the ferry across Georgian Bay to Owen Sound, drop down the Lake Huron shoreline to Sarnia and cross into Pt. Huron, Mi. or take a side trip (3 hrs)over to Toronto and Niagria Falls then back to Pt. Huron.

  a. Take the Lake Huron shoreline around the thumb of Michigan to Bay City, pick up US 23 and go North to Mackinac City cross the big Mac bridge and go back to the Sault and do either option 1 or 2 and head home.

  b. From Pt Huron Stay on I-69 to S.W. Michigan where you can either follow the Lake Michigan shoreline north to Ludington and hop the ferry over to Milwaukee, Wisconsin or go all the way north to Traverse City and on to Mackinac City. You can then run up to the Sault (50 miles) and do either 1 or 2 options.

We will drive the old motor home up  to camp in . Were not much for tent camping these days either .

I built a bike trailer this winter so we can pull the bike up behind us .

Your sense of entertainment is a bit warped.

I've been acrossed it more times than I can count and it's not bad, but it's surley nothing I look foward to.

Funny that you should use "warped". The guys that I usually ride with dread that crossing and feel as you do about my enjoyment of odd things. Like I said, just guide the bike gently and let it "squirm" across the grating. If it's wet, just be gentle with the throttle and brake.

John

Depends on the bike crossing the Mac . My V star does a little jig , no big deal . The wing looked more like a break dance happening . Not good .

I will put this meet on my calender and try to make it.

The grates on the Mackinac are not that bad and you dont have to ride on them anyway in the right lane. The grates on the lift bridge between Houghton and Hancock are the one's that get my attention.  :action:

I'm itching too. Took a ride to the local Toys R Us (kid's birthday coming up) and was whining to SWMBO about all the bikes on the road. We almost turned around and pulled the girl out of the garage...Ugh!

Ended up not doing it though. Need to change her oil and do some other maintenance before riding her. Plus, I'm out of town on business all next week and figured she could use an extra week's sleep before I put her to work. 'Twas a hard decision though.

I definitely will make the ride unless something comes up at work, though. Beautiful country up there and I've never been on a group ride before. Heard good and bad, but would like to make up my own mind.

We're driving through Curran, MI...is that pronounced "Keeron" too? :cheeky1:

Greeper, I know the feeling, I'm like a stud horse in the spring, can hardly restrain myself, looks like it will be 50*tomorrow. Roads are clear and dry. I may throw the harness off tomorrow and take a ride. I've got the 86 GW that I have never ridden so it needs a work out, got all the maintaince done on it this winter so it's ready to go. Spent Friday polishing and grooming so the bike is raring to go, tank is full, all fluids topped off, tires checked, keys in the ignition and battery is full charge.

Understand about the group ride, we'll set up some road rules before we ride as a group so everyone is on the same page. One of the guys John R. (doesn't know it yet) but he's going to be the ride captain leading the pack and setting the pace, he's got way more years of riding experience than I and probably anybody else I know.

Here is what I found on Curran, Michigan. Lot of history for such a small community.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curran,_Michigan

Pronouncation of Curran, Kuran, Curin, Quran would really be determined by ones vernacular. It's a quaint little burg at the intersection of 72/65 but don't blink or you'll miss it.
