A heated chair for those cold nights around the camp fire --- Clicky

Next to a couple of Swedish backpackers giving you a spanking, the Chaheati All-Season Heated Camping Chair could be the best thing to warm up your buns on a cold night at the camping ground. Packing a coil-free, soft, flexible heating element powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery, the collapsible chair is the perfect way to ensure your backside is as warm as your front when sitting around the campfire.

The chair’s heating element, which will heat up in around 10 to 20 seconds, is positioned to produce therapeutic, even heat across the back, lower back, bottom and back of the thighs after a long day hitting the trails. To withstand the rigors of the outdoors, it is fire and water-resistant and is designed to support anyone up to 280 lbs (127 kg).

The one button control offers a choice of four heat settings – the lowest will produce an average temperature of 98.6-100.4°F (37-38°C) for around six hours, while the max setting will have your buns toasty warm at an average temperature of 141.8-145.4°F (61-63°C) for around 1.8 hours.

The Chaheati All-Season Heated Camping Chair is available in a choice of red/black or camo/black and sells for US$89.99 with battery and charger. A 12V car charger is also available for $15, while replacement batteries are priced at $35.

With things like this Ken, you might be able to coerce me into going camping with you.

Personally I prefer the wife, she keeps me warm, As a kid I would cuddle up to the dog instead, but at 4.00am she would go outside and get wet, after that she wasn't as much fun to snuggle with.

I couldn't help but fix that post for you.

Interesting, John.

You should grab one and let me know how it works!  ;)

Being from the Old School of Backpacking, it's not very often I treat myself to a campfire, as they were not allowed at most 'Back Country' Campsites/Parks. I've learned to live without them,, although I will 'treat' myself to one on the odd occasion, where permissible. That chair doesn't appear to be any bulkier than a 'regular' folding Armchair.

It's just been recently (NASSIR 3) that I've started carting around a sturdy enough 'full size' folding armchair, along with a roll top aluminum table to places I figure won't have a picnic table to sit/eat on.

Having suffered through life from the age of 26 with a bad back(result of a bad motorcycle wreck at the age of 19), support for my back is mandatory while at 'camp'.  I always used a Thermarest Ultralite Chair Kit,  where one inserts their sleeping pad inside the 'sleeves', to sit on around camp, but they are used either on a picnic table, or on the ground, as there are no 'legs' to raise it off the ground and as I age, it's a long haul to get my increasing 'bulk' up and out of that type of chair. Great for reading while in the tent though.

While I like the comfort and seating height of a folding Armchair, I don't care for it's bulk and folded/collapsed length. ( ~ 36" )

The unique Kermit Chair has been around for some time  and is compact enough, but it's cost($129), set-up time and the fact that I would need/want the optional leg extensions($35) to raise the seating height up to a 'normal' height, is just too expensive, especially with the added shipping cost($20).

I have been eyeing a much more compact item, which when 'folded' up, can fit inside the top box. This one is called the Pico Arm Chair and looks the most promising to me, for camp comfort when on an extended tour, as it takes up less space, yet provides 'full size' comfort.

Prevent/Repair those cracked 1500 trunk lids by installing a set of Rudy's Lid Reinforcement Panels to the underside of your trunk lid.

Ken, my brother has a pair of the Pico chairs for him and his wife. They are suprisingly comfortable for something that comes from such a small package. I will most assuredly be looking at them when I next shop for chairs.

Actually Doug   ...  I just bought one at a pretty good price.  -  LOL  :ssshh:

Thanks for the feedback, though. It seems to echo all the other reviews I've read about them.   :readit:

Whatever happened to just sitting on a rock, log or even a picnic table when camping?

I wish it were so simple, Norton!   :sleepy:

A Classic case of the past catching up with you.  :?

A  lack of back support for my bad back prevents sitting on the other 2 options. Even the picnic table bothers my back after a while. Some places I have made camp don't have a picnic table.   If it was just for a weekend, I might be able to manage, but on a longer trip where I am spending 8 - 11 hrs a day in the saddle, for a week to 3 months, a seat with back support helps ward off severe back pain.
