OK, now wait a minute, here.

It is the Oldsmovette...AKA F-88. It was basically a '54 Vette with Oldsmobile badging and I'm sure, other differences in geegaws. And the last pic is of the Barret Jackson sale of the car. Is that, or is that not, correct?

So what you are asking is that we recognize, from these pictures, the location of the vault where the car is stored?

It's gotta be in Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Oldsmovette,, I've never heard of that name.
and, it's not a vault - they let me in.

I don't know why there are only a few of us playing this. I'm sure we have folks from here that would have an interesting pic that would be even local to them.

For example :  A bit of a "give a way",,,,, but this pic comes from just a day I took off for a ride.

Wow, Winger. That's quite a waterfall. It makes me want to know more about it, and the area. It's a PURDY place.

Sure looks like Sunset Bay State Park, OR, just south of Charleston/Coos Bay

Absolutely Dusty.  Most people take Hwy 42 from Winston at I-5 over to the Coast to Coos Bay and head north.  They don't realize the gems that are along the coast just south of Charleston.  Have you ridden all the way down to Shore Acres??  The gardens there are beautiful.  Its not Butchart, but still is fantastic to walk through.  You can take the trails down to the beaches and have a very secluded tranquil walk along the beach south of there.

Or you can wait till the storms come in and enjoy the huge waves that crash into the vertical rock walls there.

The camping grounds at Sunset Bay are very nice, for those who want indoors you can even rent a Yurt.

I camped at Sunset Bay SP,   ......

.....   right across from a Yurt  .......

Early the following morning, I took the Arago Hwy all the way south to it's end at Cape Arago State Park. I took these shots at Simpson Reef, just before that park.    ......

and then took my shots of Sunset Bay, on my way out, heading for Crater Lake NP

I think the next time I visit the area, I'll check out nearby Bastendorff Beack County Park

The way I understood it was that 2 cars were built but 1 caught on fire and was destroyed before completion. also, there were either 1 or 2 mock ups of the 1954 design.

This was the only 100% complete F-88 built.

This thread is now 24 pages long and has been an absolute blast.  I hope we have provided some of the members with ideas of places to visit.  I'm really enjoying this.  I plan on visiting Watkins Glen after seeing Dusty's pictures of the place.

I have come to realize I have led a sheltered life after following this tread. Having 7 children,5 grandkids, helped three of the children through college and 1 more thinking about college after he gets out of high school, turned 17 today. stuck here in the middle of nowhere(Kansas),Got some ideas for the coming years. So that being said keep the pics coming.

Dusty,

That looks a lot like Virginia City, Montana.  I haven't been through there since I was in high school in Anaconda, Montana so I could be mistaken.
