That man deserves a big Thank You from all. If there were more like him things would be better.

Good job. However even more important is the rendering of first aid when appropriate/needed. Of course that decision can only be made at the scene and not Monday morning!

First aid was available by the people he was talking to, they called 911. Good job.

I did it once. I was in my car sitting at a traffic light. I was in the left lane. the right lane was pretty well open. A car was pulling out of a parking lot and trying to work his way into traffic. As he nosed out I saw another car coming up way too fast in the right lane. He hit the car that was coming out. He backed up and then went forward again around the car he just hit and took off. I pulled into the right lane and followed him. About a mile down he got on the interstate and I followed him. I got on the phone with 911 and explained that I just witnessed a hit and run. I explained as many details as I could, and requested a police car to come. I explained where the driver was and what exit he was passing. Then I updated as he passed the next exit, and I updated as he passed several land marks. The 911 dispatcher didn't realize right away that I was following the guy. When she realized, she told me to back off. The guy knew I was following him and he driving like a bat out of hell to get away from me. I had already given a description of the car and the plate number, so I went ahead and backed off. About two miles up the road he had pulled off into the center median and abandoned the car. As I passed him I saw him crossing the opposite side of the interstate and climbing the fence. I also saw that he abandoned his girlfriend. I went a couple of miles farther to a turning around poing and came back down the road. By then the state police had shown up, so I went on my way. I had given my contact details to the 911 dispatcher, so I figured if they needed me, they would call me. I never heard from them.
