picked up the wing in oct and just got the title back from the dept of trans opened it up to check and make sure everything was good with it only to find a title brand of r on it along with reconstructed in 4 different places on the header of it. is it just me or would this bother you when you saw it. contacted the dealer that sold it to me and his salesman calls me back and says oh i thought i told you that well its no big deal i contacted the po and he said its was only minor front fairing damage to it and he can email you pics so you can see the damage. but its not the amount of damage done to it because it still looks good to me but the fact that it was not disclosed to me and what kind of hit i may take if i try to sell it or trade it in someday with that brand on it. i believe in pa it must be disclosed to the seller in written form and signed by the buyer. any one know for sure? Don't think you'll take too much of a hit on a 1200 bike. But I don't know what kind of recourse you have with the dealer, since it's supposedly verbal and not in writing. When I bought my 1500 last year, the PO e-mailed me a Cyclechex report, which would have been a real good idea in your case (next time...). But get a Cyclechex report and see what it says about your bike history. https://www.cyclechex.com/

By Law.... The seller MUST tell you in the advertising of the product, even on Craig s List, that it is reconstructive title or salvaged title. You will never be able to collect for any damages from the insurance company because the insurance company already bought the bike...... Unless you got a great deal on the bike, I'd be pissed! To me, a salvaged title bike or car would only be worth a couple of hundred per thousand in value. If you paid full price I would make one phone call to the Stealership you got it from, and let them know that this is the only call your going to make to them, after that your calling the state.

Watch eBay for a frame and title.

It's not the resale value that you really have to worry about so much as the insurable value. If it were me I'd be on the hunt for either a cheap parts bike with a good title or just a frame and title. A full frame swap can be done in a weekend.

If the dealer didn't make it clear that it was a rebuild/salvage title, then the dealer is at fault, and you should press the issue.

I would push that clear through to the State Attorney General for falsification of documents.

There was an old Corvette dealer here in phoenix that used to push salvaged vehicles and lie about it/not disclose it. They got shut down, now they sell acessories or something, I don't even think they're for Vettes either. It'll come back to bite 'em eventually. Of course that doesn't make your insurance situation any better. I actually asked my insurance agent once, just for fun, how bad it would be to insure a salvage title vehicle. He laughed and said I didn't want to know.

A few years ago we had 75 Sq. Miles of this county under water. I knew there were used car guys asking to buy cars that the owners did not have insurance on. Those cars did not have a salvage title and could be hosed out and dried out, cleaned up and sold as a good vehicle.

Same thing happened after katrina, I remember a flood (no pun intended) of vehicles for sale out of east texas with "slight water damage", there were stories goin' 'round that the dealers were hittin' louisiana and buying 'em up cheap. After hearing the stories I knew why there were so many really nice cars for cheap

My first Goldwing a 1986SEI had a salvage title. It really didn't make any difference to my insurance company. It also didn't make any difference when I sold it for my 1500, it sold for pretty much the same amount of other SEIs that I saw sold locally and on eBay. At it's current age I can't believe the salvage title will effect the value at all.
