I've decided to Compete again in the Body for Life contest for 2008.  I did it in 2000 and achieved awesome results and now that I'm in my 40's it's a good time for a challenge again.:weightlifter::weightlifter::weightlifter::walker::skipping:

So I'll be a lot more busy with my training program and with spring on the way, we are starting to get very busy at the shop too.  I got lot's of projects coming up too, not to mention that I also have 3 jobs.  So I'll still check in daily if I can, but I won't have the same time to spend on the forum as I did through the winter.

Just out of curiosity...;)........has anyone else here competed in the Body for life contest or follow that program? I'd love to hear about it.:clapper:

It really works if you stick to it. And it's a 12 week program and you compete for money and a car etc. It's about eating properly and the whole ball of wax.

Here's my achievments in 2000 when I was 34.

Go for it Jennifer, I shed 60lbs from July '07 to December 07. So I know it can be done. Of course I had the incentive of a diabetes diagnosis.:cooldevil: Just went on a 1200 calorie diet for a couple months then switched to low carbs after three months. No problem holding my svelte 165lbs figure right now. Diebetes is well under contol too.

Well I just finished my 45 minutes of cardio and it's 6:20am. Feeling good already...:dude:

Good for you Exavid, and I know it can be done.  :D   I've done it before as can be seen by my pictures in the Picasa link above.  But I've strayed from that winning condition and the "over 40+" blues have movtivated me for another challenge.  I've always enjoyed weight training though.  I love getting stronger!  :weightlifter:

As a regular participant and reader in the Forum, I must admit that I'm shocked - The "Photograph Queen" has started a thread that seems to be missing something...:baffled:

Oh, wait... Look... It's a link...:grinner:

Now, seriously - That transformation took HOW long? That would take me too much
:weightlifter::weightlifter::weightlifter: and a whole lot of :dance::banana::dance::banana: to accomplish, and somehow, I don't think the results would be quite as :blowingup::blowingup: !!!

Good luck with your goal!! I wish you the best. I know that I need to shed a few pounds, maybe a stone for our neighbors across the pond! :baffled:

The only thing I ask is that if your visits are going to be brief, then at least keep thinking those good jokes up while your working out.

This winter you've given me a Brazillian laughs!!

Hey Endwell_Tim........my transformation in 2000 represents two 12 week challenges or approx. 6 months to lose 45 lbs and 14 inches alone off my waist. :weightlifter:(I just love this little weight lifting emoticon) :weightlifter:

Thanks lostinflorida. I'll try to post jokes occassionally or funny stuff.  Usually I get some good ones from a friend of mine, so I have to wait and see what see sends.  I'm never very good for remembering jokes people tell me.  :waving:

The last time we had to call out the army.:D

Good luck Jennifer. Less is more, more or less.:?

The problem is that while I have the snowblower out I help out a few neighbours. They thank me with bottles of wine and brandy. If it doesn't stop snowing soon I'm going to become an alcoholic.

Best of luck on your new project Jennifer.

I used to dump 30 or 40 pounds real easy.

Lately though, I have found that it is a whole lot tougher than it used to be.

1200 calories a day Paul?   You must have starved to death for those two months.   I don't like straw or celery. :baffled:

I agree.....1200 calories is extremely low for a man.  Even low for a woman.  I never eat less that about 1500 or1600 calories a day and even then I still drop weight.  I eat 6 times a day too. Just small meals.  Keeps the old fire (metabolism) burning! :weightlifter:

The incentive of diabetes helps to concentrate the mind. By dropping the amassed mass quickly and going to a very low carbohydrate diet along with a low caloric intake I've been able to get the blood sugar under control without insulin or much medication. Remembering my grandmother who spent two years in a nursing home having more of her legs amputated from time to time because of diabetic complications also helps me stay on the straight and narrow. I would like to be able to ride my 'Wing for at least another 8-10 years.
