Well I am back in the saddle, well sorta-kinda:byebye: After reinjuring my knee that put me on bed rest I am up an riding again. As a matter of fact I rode out Sat. and met Flyone and his daughter for a meet and greet as they passed through my area.

We had a wonderful time chatting. We had planned to tag along with them as they were headed for Charlotte, NC but the front brake on the Wing stuck and forced us to limp back home. So much for my Wing sitting idle for the past year with little travel time.

Flyone will be my witness that I am able to button my vest; that's a miracle:banana:Ten more pounds to go, time to work on my six pack before I head for the beach in August. :weightlifter:

Keep on Winging:bat:

I have been on a 1500 calorie a day diet for nearly three weeks now, and if the scale ain't lying, I'm down at least 8 pounds.  We leave tomorrow for Nova Scotia and I worry about "fallin' off the food wagon," but I'm pretty committed to being 30 lbs lighter by the time ski season starts.....  We're gonna count everything we eat.   I also made a resistance training device out of surgical tubing and two plumbing pipe lengths that packs on the bike, and it works pretty good!  Gonna bring a Resitol crunch ball, too...... empty in the mornings and inflate at night with the Coleman pump......  30lbs or Bust!

:D

Well done CJ!  Have a great trip my friend, and be safe.

I visited my Dr. last week and I'm down 16 lb's since my last visit, and it's because you guys inspired me to finally get serious.  My Dr. was very happy and I'm quite pleased too.  I still have about 50-55 more that I want to take off, but I know I have to take it slow and steady.

John

Remember, Jack, that its not just how many calories, but the quality of the calories.  1500 good  calories will keep you satisfied longer than 1500 junk calories...

A good example...  Almonds.  Cant say that a raw almond is bad for you, but in terms of how much nutrition out of the calories, its not as efficient as some other foods.

Just watching Nutrition 101; it was said that ab fat increases the chance for heart trouble and all kinds of other problems. Since my weight, I have not been able to do a lot to tone due to my injury but Jennifer has encouraged me.

I started my exercise program last week with low inmpact workouts. I am going to do a 60 day makeover targeting the abs (to get rid of the flab) and knees (for the injury).:skipping:

I need encouragement because I am not an exercise lover, so this will definitely be pain for physical gain . Still loving being able to fasten my vest:banana:

Keep on Winging:bat:

"It ain't easy giving up greasy"

this is just my personal experience and opinion.

I am in my 4th year of changing the way I eat, I gave up all dairy products, eggs, sugar, salt, white flour and red meat with the exception of an occasional 1/2 burger. I did not wean off slowly I went cold turkey, I hated the effects of the meds I was given by my traditional doctor. I decided I would rather give up  the foods than suffer the side effects of these often unproven in the long term chemicals.

On average a man only needs 1800 calories a day and a woman only needs 1400 calories , I go by total fat for the day, my daily limit of total fat is 20 grams, any less than that and you loose weight, any more you gain, Saturated fat is a no no, eat as little of this as possible. Exercise is necessary but you can not exercise off a pork roast even if you jog to Timbucktwo.

Soy milk

soy protein

cereal

oats

meat= chicken breast  and turkey breast

vegetables      all you want [fresh] read the label on frozen some  have added fat.

beans  all you want of any kind

fish   only if not farm raised they are full of fat.

Butter buds in place of butter.

fruit is mostly sugar......

I am 6'1" 183 lbs.  down from 210 and very high blood pr. by the way when I went cold turkey on my diet, my blood pressure  went back to normal in 7 weeks, I was able to stop taking the meds and I still don't need them. My traditional doctor had a suprised look on his face after only 7 weeks, but he said I no longer needed the RXs. Told me to keep doing what I was doing.

This is a site I read and it got me going the right direction, yes they sell supplements but all the books this guy wrote tell you supplements are secondary to diet and exercise. I now only take a couple of supplements plus a good multi vit.

I no longer have to take any meds including blood pressure meds. again,  this is just my personal experience.I realize everyones body and situation is different.

from the website:

We must take responsibility for our own health, and our very destiny. You cannot get well by giving the responsibility over to any health professional - whether traditional, allopathic or naturopathic. We must treat the cause of our illnesses - whether they be mental, emotional, physical or spiritual - and not just try to remove the symptoms. This site is dedicated to providing the information and "preaching the gospel of natural health" - letting people know how to cure their illnesses and conditions naturally.
http://www.youngagainproducts.com/

a lot of the traditional doctors usually treat the symptom not the cause. cut it off or give you toxic chemicals with side effects deluxe. jmo

If any of you have prostate problems I suggest you read this guys book "The natural prostate cure" taking  the beta sitosterol I take keeps me from getting up at night to pee so many times, helps the urinary flow too. has some other good effects too, like lowering  cholesterol.

A few day ago I was questioning myself about my riding my GoldWing at 66 years of age.  However I weigh 182, workout 3 days a week lifting weights, and I walk 2 miles a day.  I also work 3 days a week as a Building Trades Teacher. Maybe I am in better shape than I realized.  So you guys that are beginning to diet and workout, keep at it because it works.  I feel better than I felt at 35.  In fact at 35 I was nearly cripple with aches and pains from overwork and poor diet.

I joined the YMCA and have been working out ever since. However I bought a stacked weight machine and work out at home now.

I knew a man that was working out at the Y when he was 90 years old.

Riding our WINGs is the best motivator I know of.

Your Friend,

John D.
