okay, I admit.... occasionally I would disconnect the NG tude.... drink a coke to sooth my throat let it sit about 30 minutes and then re-hook up the NG tube and suck it all out.....
its the little things that make you happy

Do you hear the echo? That would be me.
I blame my job - Sittin' all day long, sometimes my legs ache from sitting. I try to get up and around, and right now I am in the process of making a lifestyle change - Dumping "projects". Sold my Cadillac, and my Corsica, the truck needs no work so it stays. (The bike stays, i don't care if i have to work on it...) Broken chainsaw - Gone!
Now, take half that time and put it into exercise... But first, I need rest... Relaxation... ZZZZzzzzzzzz...
Did you know that on Weight Watcher's you actually get "exercise points" for riding motorcycle? I was surprised, but it makes sense. It's hard to dispute that riding is a more physical thing than driving around in a car.
I hear ya Tim! I sit at a desk or a workbench all day and sometimes all evening too. I had to force myself to get away from my bench last night (I repair pro-sound equipment as a hobby/part time business) and get on my elliptical trainer and that was at 9:00 last night. And then I wonder why backpacking isn't as fun as it used to be 10 years ago. Hiking 15 to 18 miles with a 40-50 pound pack was whole lot easier then.
I need to try to get up earlier in the morning and do my excercise then. I am just not a morning person though...never have been.

5'9" and 175 lbs. Swim, work in the shop, martial arts, house work and yard work. Then again I also drink beer and smoke ciggs sorta counter-productive huh?Last edited on Tue Apr 1st, 2008 04:52 pm by LilJack

I'm 51 and go to the gym 3 times a week. I have a near death experience every time I go, but I survive and crawl out, feeling much better ( I think. )
It's good for the heart, it's good for the wife and it must be doing me good too. It's like a drug, you actually feel guilty if you miss a session. ( honestly )
What supplements to take ? well, Glucosamine is an absolute must. 1000mg per day, very good for bones and joints. Omega 3 and Cod Liver Oil, both good for the heart and blood. Garlic capsules are brilliant, garlic acts like an oil filter for the blood. It's good for fighting infections too. If you strain yourself, by going all giddy and doing too much too soon, raw ginger is an anti-inflammatory and works wonders, it's especially good for anyone with a touch of arthritis. Take a piece the size of a marble, each morning. Takes about 10 days to get into the system. Works for a lot of people. If you don't care for raw ginger, you can get it in capsule form.
P.S If you take raw garlic, you have to crush it. It's not beneficial unless you do.

It's not ironic, Redwing is showing us that we are all equals because compared to him there is no "biggest loser", we are all losers.

i have a son who is 15 years old and he is addicted ( for lack of a better term ) to physical fittness and weight lifting. he will not drink sodas or eat candy or fried food. i tell everyone that he is fit enought for both of us. he treats his body like a temple. i treat mine like an amusement park . one good thing about him living with me instead of his mother is he has me eating better.

Well here I go I am getting my exercise in, didn't know that I was so stiff. Stretching those muscles and then hit the stair stepper. I found an old Ab-Roller and some weights in the closet. Whew! I am tired from dusting all this stuff off

That's a good word of wisdom, but how much of the 327 lbs have you gained back?
120 lbs off your frame should have worked wonders for you joints especially your knees. Sorry, your doctor did not adjust your medication to compensate for the weight lost.
I am approaching my weight lost from the aspect of mind, body, and spirit. So it is not just the pounds that I am shedding but I will off load some mental junk and replenish the spiritual. I plan to do a lot of reading and riding alone. I think the mountains is a good place for me to reflect on life; with the tree beginning to bud and blossom it is a perfect metaphor for a "new beginning".
Well I got to get my exercise in; I am going to miss my five pieces of bacon, three eggs, a bowl of grits with buttered toast, and a diet coke. Can you believe it, a diet coke I have replaced all that with a vitamin shake and carrot juice. Lunch is rabbit food and herbal tea to start the detox. I am on my way

| Ok. I have decided to do this. I really need to lose weight. I got up this morning and the scale had the nerve to tell me that I weigh 225 lbs. I am 5'7" and feel kind of crappy. I would really like to weigh what I did when I got married - 135 lbs. but that was 25 years and 4 kids ago. Realistically, I would be happy at 165 lbs. So, here goes...
