Last July 230lbs last December 168lbs. Still 168. Main exercise was using the key instead of the remote opener to get into the car when I drove it. Lately I've been doing a little strength excersizes but really don't get carried away with it. The main reason for the weight loss was diabetes. By staying on a low carb diet I can keep my blood sugar readings very close to normal with a couple pills instead of using insulin. Memories of my grandmother who had diabetes and got shorter and shorter for a couple years as they cut off more of her legs bit by bit, give me the inspiration to stay away from things that taste good but aren't good for me.

Sometimes I do wish there wasn't so much on the forbidden list.:(

That's a great accomplishment Exavid. High blood pressure is a family ills that has been passed on from generations in my family. I felt good this morning, 117/78, I have a checkup in 4 weeks so I hope to post some good numbers.

Got room for Mrs. 2wings? I am concern about her weight since diabetes is a risk factor in her family.

I sent them a picture and I think I got accepted already..

I don't speak Jamaican too well so I was hoping someone could help me decipher my acceptance letter.

Sure was quick so I think they really want me.

Here is the response...

"Ijusdontinksomon"

Short and sweet.  Caint' wait for them to get snow so we can practice. :grinner:

When I joined the forum, I was pushing a hair over 270 lbs, now I'm down to 215 (last time I was weighed last month).  I lost mine due to a diet change, diabetes and pill changes made me change a lot of things that I ate that was killing me.  I'm still losing weight, 1 year ago I was at 235, I'm still slowly dropping off weight (according to my belt and pants), like I said, I was at 215 last month, I'm shooting for 190.  Also what helps is at this job, I don't have access to a shoppette to buy snacks, or a dining facility that has a large selection of food for breakfast or lunch, like I had when I was working at FT Hood.  Now, I each a very lite breakfast of 400 calories, and pack a lunch of 1 sandwich,(lean ham) a diet soda, a oatmeal cake(Little Debbie's), a tiny bag of chips and a banana.  And for dinner, usually chicken or fish, sometimes just a hamburger patty with cheese and some beans, but not a lot.  At one time, I was taking in about 3-4 thousand calories a day, with snacks and all, now, most days it is about 1200 to 1600 calories.  The good thing is 2 years ago, my cholesterol was running over 300, now it is 175, and my AC1 was 13 now is 6.  I feel better, look better (at least to myself) and I'm saving money on gas, because it doesn't take as much to haul my butt around as it would if I stilled weighed over 270.:D

I found out why Rudy doesn't want to do this, it would be bad for business. ;)

OK seriously, you guys are starting to get me fired up again.  When I got married at 27, I was on 3 basketball teams and doing karate.  I continued to play bball until about 7 years ago when my knees just got too bad to continue.  I hung around 220-225 during those years, eating whatever I wanted.  That was about 10-15 lbs more than a lean me would be.  I'm currently at about 270, the most I've ever weighed in my life, and I'm on medication for high blood pressure and to lower my cholesterol, and I will only be 47 this year.  I also can't fit into my drysuit or wetsuit any longer, which means I can't dive because I can't afford to replace them. :X  I've got to do something and I have been kicking it around for a year or so, but you guys are helping me to get motivated.  I guess I'll skip my Friday donut this morning and eat some strawberries instead. :)

John
