Maybe we all can get really serious with this and end up getting alot of good out of it.

I've got a lot of longevity in both sides of my family so that's a benefit, but I sure would feel better at 155 or 160.

Can't be that hard to get your socks on, Lost--you're not all that far away from your feet.:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

Just another silly "short" joke--meant in good humour.

OK I am reporting in with my stats for the first week. It has been difficult trying to maintain the diet change (since sugar has been consumed in access in its various forms from soft drinks to the most delicious pastries) but I weathered the storm.

I lost 3.5 pounds (probably half water and hot air :cheeky1:) and my blood pressure was 120/81, puls 62. My target for next week is 2 lbs. and I intend to walk 2 mi per day at the par course along with my daily exercise. Eating practically raw veggies and fruit has given the old colon a break from having to digest all the meat, pizza, candy, pastries, and other awful but delicious food.

Today's menu consist of a vitamin shake for breakfast, lunch is a banana and a green salad with a splash of lemon juice, and dinner is a mix fruit bowl. The change has made me feel a lot better. I don't feel like a boa constrictor any more, while laying on the couch with the remote trying to digest my latest kill.

OK everyone Man-up and tell of your progress.

Keep on Winging:bat:

Where's the protein in your diet? You gotta eat protein still or that looks like a starvation diet and you will end up getting terrible cravings and it will be harder to stick to your program.  I'm serious. YOu should really get the Body For Life book and read it.

The most successful way to lose wieght is to eat 5 -6 small meals a day about every 2.-3 hours. You need a source of protein with each meal. If you don't eat protein ,your body with burn your muscle off with fat as well. The protein soures are what keeps you going and gives energy too. Sources like egg whites, skinless chicken breast, low fat cottage cheese, lean pork, ocassional lean steak, shrimp, fish etc. And you should get yourself some good protein bars and protein shakes for snacks etc. This will help make losing wieght much more tolerable.

Check it out.........:waving: All the best:weightlifter:

My protein is coming from beans. Wish I could convert the gas into a usable form. :cheeky1:  Did have some shrimp in a spinach soup yesterday and a bit of chicken breast from the bar-b. What I have incorporated in my diet are foods that do not take long to digest (@ 30 mins) which allows the body to direct its resources to healing and repair. I have modified the Bragg fasting system to fit my need. It is quite strict but the results are fantastic.

I did treat myself to some Gummy Bears this morning for my hard work. Uhmmm, I wonder if Gummy Bears have enough protein to satisfy the daily requirement for protein intake :cheeky1:

I gotta say I didnt start my diet because of this post. I was having some chest pains, went to the Dr and found out I had high cholesterol and a heart pre-beat.

I am 5'7" - 5' 8" and weighed 193lbs when I went to the Dr.

Im now 183lbs.

I eat lots of skinless chicken breasts. We have salads for lunch and usually some type of chicken breast dinner. I cut the nasty potatoe chips, 12am egg sandwiches and  lots of other things. For snacks at night I eat radishes, yogurt, and pudding.

I have to say...before the diet I was taking 8 renitidine(heart burn pills) pills per day. I am happy to say that I have not taken one pill in almost 2 months, just because of changing my diet...

The nice thing about eating small amounts of crappy diet foot is that it doesn't take long to get done.  :coollep:

It's been 1 week since I started and I lost 8 lbs. I have stopped the late night snacks and when I eat a meal, instead of stuffing myself like a Thanksgiving turkey, I eat slower and only until I'm not hungry. About 15 minutes after the food settles, I actually feel full. Now I will focus on eating better foods.
It seems when I try to diet, I do it all at once - eating good, eating less, exercise and it is overwhelming and I give up and end up gaining weight after a week or 2. So far I feel good about it and good about me.

Today is D-Rod's and my 25th Anniversary so we are going out to dinner. I am not going to over-do it, but I am going to enjoy myself.

Good Luck to all of you.:weightlifter:

remember 3500 calories = one pound.   To loose one pound a week eliminate 500 calories a day.  A sustainable healthy weight loss program is really only one pound a week.

a 20oz coke is 220 calories, a 20oz mountain dew is 330:shock: (god only knows how many calories are in a 64 soda from the stop-and-rob

to calculate the calories you need to sustain your ideal weight use this formula (if you eat only this amount you will loose weight to your ideal weight)

males: 1: 10 x your ideal weight + 5  2: add 6.25 x height in centimeters 3: subtract 5 x your age

females: 1: 10 x your ideal weight - 161 2: add 6.25 x height in centimeters 3: subtract 5 x age in years

take that number and mulitple by the following activity level:  1.5 women doing light activity,  1.6 men doing light, women doing moderate,  1.7 men doing moderate

sorry ladies, but men can eat more than women
