Okay all, After failing my Air Force PT test (second failure in my career, lowest score ever) I am in. I have no choice, as my career is on the line, plus I am going to need to keep up with 3 boys now.
I weigh in at a heafty 225 pounds and somewhere between 5'11 and 6'. 9 years ago, out of basic training, I was 149 lbs and a sponsored competition rock climber. 2 years later, I spent 6 months in the middle east and gained 35 pounds--best shape of my life--Then I met my future wife. 5.5 years and three kids later, here I sit.
My dad has high blood pressure, and had six bypasses at 40 years old. He is now 56, runs a marathon every year, and has less than a 5% block in his arteries. My cholesterol got up near 300, but I have got it down to 230 on my own.
No smoking, no drinking, used to drink pepsi in excess. I spend 3 shifts, 12 hours long, locked in a basement as a dispatcher, but I soon hope to be back riding on the trucks. I have always been able to stretch an air bottle way beyond my coworkers, but I am in horrible shape.
Now, I run 5 days a week, along with sets of situps, pushups, and plank (core) exercises. My goal is to be down to 185 by the end of the year, and run the Paris marathon next year. I am 27 years old, I have to do something. I also need to max some areas on my PT test. Need to do 56 Push-ups, and 54 sit-ups in one minute. Also, getting my waist down to 34 inches would be nice. Currently--
34 push-ups, 46 sit-ups, 39 inch waist, and 1.5 mile run in 15:00.
We need to make this thread a sticky, and it would be fun for someone to even set a target date for all of us, and track everyone. Just a thought, if anyone is game. I would put 5 bucks into a pool for the winner. Anyone else game?

OK, that a great idea. I believe we need to have several categories of competition. I am not sure what they would be but we can be creative.
Keep on Winging

ok guys, after a mass-debate ( there was more than one of us ) Donna ( devansgirl ) and i have formulated a plan, those that wish to take part in a weekly summary of their weight loss can PM donna with their starting weight ( plus date ), their current weight and their goal weight, the results will be correlated and posted either in a written format or downloadable spreadsheet....
good luck to ya'll

I'm posting my update here:
after 6 weeks: I've lost 15 lbs and 7.5 inches off my waist alone. Plenty of inches off everywhere else too.
Looks like I'm right on schedule to drop 28 - 30 lbs by the end of 12 weeks.
Keep it up everyone.

My employer made a contest out of it, too, under the pretense that they were interested in everyone's health and well-being. Bottom line was, or is, that they are just looking out for THEIR bottom line and they could give a bucket of beans about anyone's health.
Sorry, guys and gals.
I'm doing it for myself, not for my employer (them two-faced bastages), and not this contest, either.
BUT, to each their own. Good luck to the participants that choose to participate!

| It does not need to be a competetion as much as a fun way to help each other out. I am doing this because I have to change my life...It is nice to be able to show off the results a little and have others to help me out....just my opinion

OK its 4am and I am up and ready for the day. I have planned a 30min workout to help tone the abs so I can change this 12 pack of fat for a six pack of steel.
The strengthening exercise really paid off yesterday, I stalled the Wing as I was turning left at an intersection and was able to keep from dropping it while being off balanced. The old knee and leg held up under the weight of the bike. Today I will work on the abs, legs, and finish with some aerobics. Alright I need a few accountability Wingers to keep my feet to the fire.
My bed was sure appealing this morning, its usually more like 8am before I think about getting started for the day. This is a life style change
Keep on Winging
