Wexman and myself know Redwing personally, and some forum members know him in real life but don't know he is Redwing on the forum. I think it's just a game he plays and he asked Ciaran and myself to keep his ID to ourselves. I think AZ (John) is the only one here who has actually spoken to Redwing. As old Redwing is a lot bigger than me and nowhere near as old as he lets on either, his secret is safe with me.

So if he's a real person but doesn't correctly portrait himself online, the online Redwing is more or less fictitious, correct???

I gues that means most forum members are in that same boat as Redwing then. I mean, how many of us put our names in our profiles instead of hiding behind handles?

Well I for one think REDWING is pretty neat. It is always a colorful post, and I like that Red Alligator.
And REDWING rides the second fastest color bike, so he cannot be too bad Kit

Im an old guy who just enjoys the fun and friendship that this great forum presents if I had my wish to meet a couple of members in person, they would be ..zoe............... and ..wannabe..............???

I've been away for a few days watching elk and stuff (they're still too thin to poach), so I missed all this.
I searched Google Earth for days, looking for a cottage on the Aran islands with a Honda 50 parked outside. Well I didn't find one, surprise, surprise.
Then I got to thinking. Do I really believe that Redwing, or "My Lord Redwing" as I prefer, is really an eighty-three year old retired Irish lawyer who is apparently very computer savvy? No, of course I don't.
But then I thought further, and realized that anyone smart enough to be a lawyer could probably be smart enough to learn about computers.
So is he really a lawyer? Well, when he sentenced me to 6 mos in some CA hellhole for trying to combine deer and alphabets he displayed some knowledge of legalspeak, but it's far from convincing.
That doesn't truly lead us to the $64,000 question, but here it is anyway.
Do we really want to know? After all, Zoe unclothed would lose all her mystery too.
Tune in tomorrow for more ramblings.

I believe the correct term is 'alter ego' in the strict latin definition of the term, i.e. 'other self'. I suspect there are a number of members who have alter egos, not for any malicious purpose, simply a way to explore without being seen, or ask dumb questions, or even simply to create a little fun.
Who IS Zoe?
For example, if everyone thinks you are a Guru, or at least somewhat knowledgeable, how can you ask about something that seems really silly? Easy, you get the alter ego to ask for you.
Of course an alter ego could be used maliciously, to wind up an unsuspecting member, or really stir up some trouble.
If this seems far-fetched, just think, most of us post under a handle, in effect, alter ego number one. It isn't much of a stretch to imagine numbers 2, 3 etc.
And, if anyone wants to know, I am the tooth fairy, I've written several letters to my daughter lately explaining why she cannot keep her tooth because I need it for repairs to Toothy Towers.

BlackGW wrote: English Bob wrote:

Well of course Zoe exists, she's an English lady living in Blackpool who wants to get a thingy and do stuff with Redwingy. So she exists on some plane of existence, but not necessarily the same plane of existence as say, Hilary Clinton.
The Zoe that exists in my frame of reference is fiftyish, kind of angular with salt and pepper hair and is perhaps just a wee bit desperate. She's widowed, living on a fixed income and probably keeps cats.
But now, if by existence you mean could you find Zoe, walk up to her and grab a handful of her not very prominent t$%s, then I think you would be dissappointed. Not by the t$%s1 but by the fact that they don't exist in the same plane of existence as your hand.
You may as well ask the question, "Does English Bob exist". Their are two forum members who might attest to my existence, but beyond that.........................
1 Given the correct frame of reference, they would most likely dissappoint as well.
