Ain't this just peachy, a million Pygmy's starving in New Guinea and I just watched enough fireworks blown off to feed all of them for a year:X Somethings wrong with this picture:( And not only that, but but but you seen one of these fireworks things and they all look alike. Same songs, same freakin rockets same everything. :P Boooooooooooring :shakehead::tutut: Give me a freakin break, spend our tax dollars on something that's worth while and does some real good. :cussing: Yeah I'm pissed and the rest of ya ought to be. I'm not a dooooooogoooooder, but I'm just tired of seeing the governments, local state and federal, that goes for Parliaments and others, piss away millions of dollars, that all of us have paid in, on nothing but crap. :thumpingmad:And NO, THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT SO PUT DOWN YOUR AXES.

Ok, interesting can of worms to say the least. The problem is folks, I'm one of those people that cares. Everyone enjoy the weekend and y'all get some rest.

The trouble is Cyote61, it's just another version of a game the Romans figured out 2000 years ago, Ludi Romanorum.

It don't matter whether you blow off fireworks or feed barbarians to the lions or pit slaves against gladiators, it is just fluff and 95% of the population lap it up and ask for more.

Stops 'em thinking and maybe asking hard questions.

Why did you watch if it makes you so angry?  Boycott them next year!  Our local fireworks that we go to each year are completely privately funded by local businesses, and we have a great time seeing folks we don't see often enough.  It is a small community, but one with a giant heart, and we love to celebrate.

If it's any consolation...I'm at work.  I don't have a problem with any fireworks...except when it's my neighbors setting them off and trying to burn down the field next to me.

Lucky for us here in Wildfield there is a firework ban. You have to get a fire permit but because of the ban you can't use it. Here in Canada we celebrate on the 1st and all was quiet in our neighbourhood. Did see them thou from Canada's  and Ontario Place in the distance from our upper deck at home.:waving:

98-Wing-487, Yes sir, same problem, we are in the middle of a draught, pasture dry, and livestock. Cattle and critters stampeded into fence is not abnormal during 4 of July and New Years here. Fire works are legal so it must mean what ever problems they cause are legal also, right:baffled:

English Bob you are right on the money. You got my meaning and the point, only use 4th of July expense and wasted money as a point. Lots of ways to celebrate our freedom and some of those ways have lasting benefits to those in need.

tdbieber, I did not watch them, why would I after what I said. I happen to live in a house with another person who was channel surfing at the time so I was aware they were on. I also could see them over at the county park from my bar. I shouted out the window for them to knock it off over there but they just ignored me.:(I think it's super that the local business men chip in and it does not cost the taxpayers anything. Now lets see, how else could all that money been spent to make everyone happy and someone else lives happier. :? You got a elderly folks up that way on fixed income who don't eat properly cause they have no money? Can't get to the store cause they have no car, could not afford one anyway. Well of course you do and that's just one example of how to throw a celebration and wave the flag at the same time.

Now don't y'all go looking for fights, that is not the purpose of this thread. Does everyone realize that what the government says there are gonna give you back in social security is about 4 times the amount now than what it was. And, what is was is still being paid to a large percentage of the elderly today, not the new amount. Also, if you are not over 50 today you need to realize that people who are, never heard of 401 K's, nor did they make the income we make today. Very few people had pension plans back then also. Poverty and malnutrition within the fixed income set is as ramped today as it is with homeless and hungry children. :whinger: And it was these old folks that paid into the system so our future generations could have some.

I see people all around me losing their houses due to they can no longer pay the payments, or they've lost their job cause they can't buy gas to get to work. And when I say all around me I'm talking about homes and families within a mile of two of me. U-haul trucks are parked all over the place.

Hey, motorcycle sales are great!!! A little something good out of all the rest.

Gasoline, yeah we got it today, but how easly we have forgotten the gas shortage in the 70's, and the next one that's coming is gonna make that one look like a walk in the park. Enjoy your winging while you can, but keep your eyes on tomorrow cause tomorrow is going to kick our butts faster than a hornet on steroids.

I think now I'm go inventory my pantry.:cooler:

Now I'm not looking for a fight here on the subject of fireworks.  You do make some valid points about how money is wasted.  I agree.  There are a lot of folks that could use some food etc.   Now if we could just convince some of the people in congress to quit wasting TRILLIONS of our hard earned dollars (with a few hundred billion thrown in from China since they own the majority of our national debt), we could make sure we take care of our own.

Okay, end of my rant!  Can't we all just get along?  :waving:

I ain't ranting no more either. I feel better after I went to town today and helped and old lady across the street. She screamed and struggled a lot but after I got a good strangle hold on her we made it to the other side. I just don't get no respect :(

I guess we could all sell our expensive toys and help feed the unfortunate of the world, but where does it stop.  Am I suppose to feel guilty because I live in a country where we have a form of government where if you work hard, invest well and don't waste your resources you can be prosperous.

No sir, I don't think you should feel guilty at all. No way, no how. And ours is not the only country you can do that in. I'm not selling my toys to feed the hungry either. :shakehead: But, if we are going to be taxed and re taxed and taxed after death again, then we should all voice our opinion on how those taxes are spent. It's not just the US with this problem, its countries all over the world. If one of us says, "I'm mad as hell and I ain't gonna take it anymore", it does little good. :baffled: But if all of us say it, then it does a lot of good.

How does this fit into this motorcycle forum? Bikers the world around are free thinkers and doers. Look at what Rolling Thunder has done, or the Patriot Guard, just as two examples. Toys for tots and bikers!! When we mass things get done. Right;)

Look at the generosity that has been shown on this forum when people need help:clapper:Yup, I'm one of those that would rather see the millions wasted on things like fireworks and parades, (just as an example) spent on the millions of old folks and young children that need our help. We have in this county as well as others, millions upon millions of old folks that have fought in war after war to keep freedom, paid in gazillions of dollars in taxes, and then we let them rot in poverty. I'm not talking about the ones that have sucked off society all their lives, I'm speaking about the ones that have given back over and over again.

:toast: Oops, it's now July 5th, so I guess the I have to wait until next year on the 4th to bring this topic up again. Kind of seemed like a worth while subject. Thanks for listing.

Regards, cyote61

Well, I've been here everyday making my reports on the wingDing including working after 12 last night to get it done including the pics.

I hate government waste also and we have plenty of it. I think we need to clear all the lawyers out of Congress and put some everyday types of folks in there. My .02 cents worth.

Yeah, I feel better too knowing that you helped that old lady across the street!  Those old biddies can sure put up a fight when they want to!  LOL  :cheeky1:

I am getting along in age a bit faster that I used to...at least it seems that way.  We just married off our last youngun on the 27th of June.  She caught her a good one!

:shock: You guys would not believe the dumbasses here with thier fireworks and firearms!!!! The fourth of july sounds like Bagdad when we first went in there! We actually had to dodge  burning phosphorus embers, on the trike, to get down our street on our way to the house!! I enjoy the proffessional displays, but dorks with torches is not a good thing. The worst is the blatant firing of guns into (hopefully) the air!:P Every year around here, some little kid is drilled in the head from a "falling" bullet.  :X  Sorry, but I feel better! Jimsjinx

A few years back, memory fades as to when, there was a young girl in south Phoenix killed with a 45 cal bullet that was fired vertically, fell back to earth (wonder why?:baffled:) and hit her on top of the head.

But the memory of that episode faded as soon as the readers threw out the newspaper.

They still do it, laws or no laws.   Our friend, Sheriff Joe Arpaio has made it harsher to be caught using firearms on the 4th July, but it goes on anyway.
