Yesterday on the way home from work I lost control of my bike and ran into a left side curb. The floor board caught the curb and I came off at about 40-50 mph. I have to tell you guys God was riding with me. I came off the high side and rolled for over 50ft in a grass median before coming to a stop. My lady righted herself and came to a stop parallel with me in the left lane. I was able to get up and with help get the bike on her wheels again and moved over to the Wal-Mart up the street. The cop said it was the first time he saw someone take a spill like that and refuse to go to the hospital until he moved his bike. I had to move it myself other wise they were going to tow it. I was treated and released from the hospital last night about 11pm. My buddy picked up my bike today and drove her home for me.  I have to remove and repair or replace the roadside and curbside drivers floorboards, and replace the chrome trim around my front fairing to get her looking right again.

I'm not bragging, but giving all the praise where it is due. I walked away with only road rash, broken ribs, and bruises Thanks to God Almighty.

I emplore you all, as nice as it is to ride without a lid in the country. Please think about you're wife and kids before taking off and put the helmet on. I came down hard and my helmet shows the damage to prove it. My face shield was ripped off and my glasses went flying. I have a pretty good impact bruise from the helmet on my forehead, but it's trivial to what would have happened if I was not wearing my helmet. I know Momma is not gonna let me ride for a few weeks, so I'll use this time to order a new helmet. I have been thinking about upgrading my front brakes, maybe it's time to go to ebay.;)

ride safe guys

Glad to hear you're ok. Is there a technical question here, or did you post in the the wrong area?

No problem. I think you'll get more exposure in another thread, because some people may shy away from this forum, thinking they may not be very helpful. You'll just get a different facet of members, that's all.

No sweat Jason, we got moderators that will shift things around to where they belong. You earned the right for some slack, sure glad to hear you weren't damaged seriously and that your bike wasn't badly damaged either. Okay enough nice stuff. GET RID OF THOSE ABOMINABLE FLOORBOARDS!  A 'Wing is happiest with pegs.

Glad you came out of it ok. Those kind of accidents happen so fast. You're working those guardian angels a bit much, and I'm sure they're going to show you the footage in heaven. I did similar work (accident)in Tulsa 2 yrs ago. I totaled a VTX and rode it home 150 miles before going into the ER for chest pain. Adrenaline can do alot of things. So can a highway sign to the chest.

Pegs are for motorcycles, floorboards are for Harleys.

A lesson learned.......that is how we all learn about how great helmets are. I am glad you are OK. When one does have a spill...it does turn the light bulb on about wearing a helmet. None of us ever figure we will need it....then the day we do...sure glad it is sitting on our heads. Stuff happens on a motorcycle sometimes......always good to have protective gear. Kit

Glad you came out of it OK but be careful, someone might read your post and offer to kick you in the private parts for suggesting wearing a helmet.

I appreciate all the kind words. I was going too fast and when I noticed I was running out of pavement thought it better to straighten her up and grab the brakes than go into the curb leaned into the turn. I did'nt want to launch myself into orbit. As far as the helmet is concerned, I love riding on the back roads with no traffic and no helmet. I don't think I will be doing it again in the near future.

I would love to remove the floorboards mine came with, but I like the heel toe shifter and it is built into the floorboard. Any ideas would be appreciated, but it has to be a low cost item as between the ex wife and Uncle Sam, I barely bring enough home to pay the bills. Keep the wheels down and ride safe.

Glad your ok thanks to the helmet. If you get the wright helmet you don't even relize your wearing one. I wear a Bell Shorty and my head stays nice and cool even in hot weather and keeps it warm with the ear flaps when it's cold. If people would only relize that all it takes to crack your scull open is a tap on the road and you dont have to be going vary fast. Most head injuries happen in town at slower speeds 25 to 30 MPH. This is just my opinion and don't mean to offend none helmet wearing ridders.
