I went with the Ruger P95,, It looks to be a nice one for the money. Slightly used for $250. What you think of this one? I have shot a few pistols, but never owned one. I have a few rifles and shotguns tho.

Greetings fellow shooter.
I just googled the model and you can buy a new one for $330 it appears. What-ever, Rugers are well made inexpensive firearms. You're probably going to enjoy it. I have a Clark modified Ruger .22 competition gun and I love it.

1. All firearms are always loaded
2. Never let the muzzle of a firearm point at anything you are not willing to destroy
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot

I have a friend with a P95. He likes it fine. I've always preferred .45ACP myself.
I have a modified Ruger MK II with likely over a million rounds through it, that still groups great - only thing that ever NEEDED replaced was the mainspring (expected).
I also have a Super Redhawk in .44mag that has served me well.
It's hard to go wrong with Ruger. You should be satisfied with your 9.

| I had a semiauto ruger 22 with a 14" bull barrel. You could make a beer can into a pasta strainer at well over 100 yards.

Hey Troutdog,
It's not that. I'm a gun owner too and it took me by surprise the first time I saw it frowned on here too.
Keep in mind that this is a world wide forum and a lot of our members are not Americans. We Americans (some of us anyway) are very easy going about guns, our society has developed with them. (and look at the arguments we have amongst ourselves.) But a lot of our friends in Europe and Australia are not so comfortable with the topic. They don't see them in the same light that we do. So here on this forum sometimes the topic gets people upset, on both sides of the issue.
As such, it's just amongst us friends on this board that we are careful of this topic. As Wexy said, he's not killing it, just asking to keep it simple. If it stays away from rights and gun control arguments, and doesn't go into political points of view, most people will just watch it with mild interest, or ignore it. But as often as not, they end up becoming a political argument, people get insulted or upset, and our hosts are forced to close it down. This forum is a great place, but those type of arguments can ruin any forum. So please try to understand the issue from the point of view of our hosts, just trying to keep the forum friendly and pleasant for everyone.

Troutdog, the only thing I will add to what Wolfman has said is this.
As long as this remains a friendly conversation, it will remain open. As soon as it appears to be turning inflammatory, an admin or moderator will close it down in less than a heartbeat.
Simply put, everyone minds their P's and Q's and a good conversation will be had.

| I flavor the Sig. P229 .40 cal with the .357 change out barrel and the P220 45. Tritium night sights and the competition spring and guide bar....sweeeet!

my personal gun is an 1858 army remminton .44cal black powder.it is always unloaded till i get to the range to fire the beast. not the best home defence weapon but the .45cal lon colt conversion cylinder comes in handy. the colt cylinder is close by but not in the gun. always treat your gun as a loaded weapon. all my kids are well schooled in this and can shoot very well. after firing i remove the cylinder to remove all doubt about the weapon being safed. i also put a stick into thew barrel for added
precaution.

We carry the Sig. P229 as our duty firearm. The one I was issued has had a rough decade of use and has never had a problem. That said, we used the Glocks for our police officer skills training and found they were very, very reliable as well. I generally carry a Glock 27 when off-duty.
