A long time friend and her husband tried to leave LA this past friday, to move back to Salinas.  He's retired navy, and out of work. They were moving to find work.  She's disabled and cant work.

They checked out of their apartment on Friday, and as they got on the hiway Rick went down on his F1. Dont know what happened.  Here's the short note I got from her...

We r still in la checked out of apt on sat got on hiway Rick & bike
went down hard. He is in hospital with road rash. He needs skin graft
on arm. I am staying at hos with him. No place else to stay. I will
get on touch in a few days. Love k

Prayers for them, please?

Beside prayers, what can we do to help these folks? We got any members in the area that can put the wife up for a few days till she finds out more about his condition and treatment?

Prayers are winging their way from South Carolina.

I managed to get ahold of Kelley this am, at the hospital. It was about 100 degrees, so Rick opted for a jeans jacket instead of his leathers, but did have his leather pants on. His front tire "lost pressure" somehow and down he went.

He is in need of skin grafts on his back and left arm, but is otherwise ok. Kelley seemed to be doing well, although she has had much practice at a positive attitude in tough times.

Thanks all for the wishes...

Good thinking Michael. UbarW was in touch with me earlier and I'm sending him the approximately $150 that's left in the donations account tonight. If anyone can add a bit more to it, please get in touch with UbarW and arrange to paypal him some money. Don't send it to me, please sent it straight to UbarW so that paypal have one less cut out of your donation.

$200 just sent Dick. I was able to mark it as a gift and it seems that Paypal didn't take a cut from it.

I have some of your patches already Dick, so maybe you can give an extra one to whoever donated before me instead. :waving:
