Here in Great Falls, there is a local group called the "Set Free Soldiers". This is a christian group but they do something that I encourage other groups to adopt.

Whenever a US soldier or veteran dies, they ride in to the funeral and encircle the area. They provide unofficial security for the funeral to keep protesters out. They do this in order to honor the sacrifice of the men and women who keep this county safe. They do this to honor the sacrifice of their families and help put an end to the discraceful and shameful act of protesting at soldiers funerals.

I encourage all motorcycle groups to get out there and protect the honor and decency of these solemn ceremonies. And to never forget the price paid for their freedom.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!

Thank you for your support.

By the way, I don't condone acts of violence and I encourage anyone who wants to do this to gain permission from the family first.

PGR has that all very well covered, but thanks for the heads-up about your group.

There's also a group called Warriors Watch, not as big as the PGR but growing.

Been a member of the PGR for nearly 4 years. Amazing group of people making a heck of an impact on the families and communities where they are asked to attend and honor. I strongly encourage anyone to sign up and particiapte in one of their missions.

I've told people who were on their first mission that they've had a lot of great rides in the past, and will have a bunch more in the future, but they'll never forget thier first ride with the PGR, or many of the ones that follow.

I joined the Texas PGR several months ago, but have yet to go on a mission....I did however make a "Mission" to honor one of my cousins back on 5/16/09 .....The group that his sister and her husband ride with is the Brazoria County Cavalry....Truman didn't want a formal funeral service, he just wanted to be cremated, brought home, and his ashes placed at the foot of his Mother and Fathers graves...I was so impressed with this group that I even considered joining them...They honor not only our fallen hero's but give those returning and leaving a "Honor Guard" ride.......This group was founded not just to honor our service men and women, but also the Firefighters and Police Officers, of that area...

I hadn't visited their web site in months, but after reading this thread I went and visited that site.....My cousins name is Truman Shiflet, I am in several pictures, I'm the old guy in the blue, white and tan stripped shirt, with the black ball cap on that says USS Lexington.....In picture #19, where they were having a prayer, you can't see it but Truman's urn was in the tour box of his brother in laws Harley.....Truman got another wish that day, He had mentioned that next time he came home he wanted to ride on that Harley.....He got that wish.....

There are lots of fine groups out there that perform Honor guard rides for our fallen hero's, and they all do great things in remembering those who gave it their all..........

I have included this groups web site to where y'all could see them in action....They do lots of great things in their area....

http://www.brazoriacountycavalry.org/cmsms/

Visit their site....BTW the lead motorcycle with the big flags on it was an 1800 Gold Wing....

Claude.....

If I am not mistaken, Warriors Watch doesn't do funerals.

People who protest at funerals should set an example by protesting at their own first. :X

Broke winger you are correct.

Warriors’ Watch Riders is a Troop Support group. We are the umbrella under which has formed a nation-wide coalition of groups and individuals dedicated to the support of our nation’s warriors. We exist for the purpose of supporting our nation’s warriors, past and present, and their families. We wear many different “colors,” or none at all. We are bikers, or we are not. We are veterans, or we are not. We are men, women, children. What we all have in common is an unwavering dedication to the support of our troops and their families. We are not a veteran’s group, we are not a motorcycle club. Those of us who do ride, use our motorcycles to draw public attention to our cause, and our cause is our troops.

Warriors’ Watch will provide motorcycle escorts for military units returning from war, for units deploying, and for individual warriors coming home or going off. Warrior’s Watch works very closely with “A Hero’s Welcome,” and The Yellow Ribbon Club, and provides a motorcycle escort component to their good work when they require it.
