hey AZgl following your travels not far today?/ I wanted to know more on your spot. Do you have to turn on every day??? or can't you just leave it on and if so how long will batteries last before change/recharge?? in other words tracking as an anti theft device ( a friend just had his 08 stolen and now I turn my alarm on always!!!

The Spot comes with Lithium dry cells. I forget the specs on them, just go to the manufacturer's website and they do a good job of explaining all of that. If you leave it on in tracking mode, the cells will be depleted in a few days. for that service you will need to drill a hole in the case, and install a power supply regulator to provide constant power for it. I have already been thinking along those lines for this one anyway. I do not have any spare batteries for it, so when they go kaput, i will start using the Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries from my camera. I have 3 sets of them. Both use 'AA'cells. I turn it on when I need it, and turn it off right away to preserve the batteries.

Right now John hasn't gotten to New Orleans yet....But a trip to the French Quarters is a must, the wax museum, and ride the trolleys at least once....There is a lot to see and do in New Orleans that one day wouldn't be enough.....16 years ago we took our daughter for her 18 birthday to New Orleans, just about two weeks after the "Big Party"....We visited that wax museum and our daughter was about two exhibits ahead of the "Old Folks"..There was one display of the Battle of New Orleans, were one of the wounded soldiers up close to the edge "moved"....She screamed so loud I thought the owners would have thought someone was attacking her....I still get a big bang out of the look on her face......Yeah we had four great days there and had a lot of pictures, but I'll be darned if I know what happened to them???? Missing in this big old house somewhere?????....BTW John if you get the chance you might want to ride by Avery Island and visit the home of Louisiana Hot Sauce....Beautiful grounds there and lots of history...For Example Avery Island sets on top of a salt dome that has been mined for hundreds of years, and they say that there is I forget how many Empire State buildings tall of salt still un-mined or will ever be mined....Just be very watchful of the Gators running free and loose on the property..... Claude.... BTW Captain you might be surprised as to how many thousand small islands there are where John is right now...And how many just disappeared after Hurricane Katrina....Those Islands are just stilt from all of the mud washed down the Mississippi River...Here today Gone tomorrow.....But the gators, and snakes love them...

Thoughts of Katrina came to mind, when I saw where he was BTW will you be meeting him on his route?

I really don't know how many of the bunch around here are planning to M&G with John at the Comfort Inn, I asked him to call me as soon as here gets into Houston...I will either see him Friday night or Saturday Morning....I"m hoping that some of our members her will take John out to the USS Texas BB-35, and the San Jacinto battlegrounds which is just across the road from the Battle Ship Texas, have his picture taken at the monument. There is a lot to see and do here that Johnmay not get to see it all, nor eat any thing that will surpass the great dining experiences he has had so far.....But everything willing I'm taking John for some great Hot Dogs, James Coney Island...Been serving Hoyt Dogs and theit Chill for over 85 years in Houston...I'm sure that some of the guys here will take John to some interesting places.... Claude.....
