Nope never done that......... well I hope they deleted that thread anyway....... Whats worse is you standing with your back to the sleepy beast and you hear a crunch........ yep, kickstand decided to go to full up position while I wasn't looking....... and to top it off, it happened at work.... Thank goodness it's dark when I get to work........

I've always said you don't actually own a Wing until you've dropped it. Sadly, I happen to own both of mine.

Thanks folks! I feel much better knowing I'm not alone! Technically, I guess I only partially own the bike, as it didn't actually lay down for a nap! And even if it did, according to at least one person, if no one saw it, it didn't happen! So I'm in the clear!

Here Lonewolf, I'll even share the chronicle of the day I gained ownership of my 1200. This was last year, about 2 weeks after I bought it. http://goldwingfacts.com/forums/forum3/73296.html

Luckily, I haven't let the ole girl decide to rest for quite a while. I've very cautious about going off the road for anything and even when turning in my own drive I've leary of the sand and gravel on the concrete drive. That being said, she has lay over several times and always with someone watching. Heck, on our Great Adventure in '07 I laid her over two times in less than thirty minutes! And yes, in front of people.

Last Sunday, first gas station stop of the season. I stopped next to the pump, and casually kicked the stand down....at least I thought I did. The next thing I know I am doing a dead lift with my wing 1/2 way down on its side. Lucky for me I am still young enough and strong enough, and I pulled it back up. Then a quick look around...and of course there were several eyes on me. Really hard to look cool in that situation.

There are only two types of bikers, those that have laid their bikes down and those that will!!!!!!!!

MDKramer wrote: Here Lonewolf, I'll even share the chronicle of the day I gained ownership of my 1200. Thanks for sharing that Mike. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry when I read it! Glad to hear everyone was relatively unscathed and damage was minimal. It just goes to show you, no matter how prepared or careful you are, you can still end up eating gravel because some people are just totally cluless!

I still want to know who's in the seated position yanking on the front case guard. Couldn't POSSIBLY be anyone who's ever read one of the 100 or so threads here on waking a sleeping Wing. In fact Michael, you should be given credit for being the ONLY person in that picture to be in the correct position!
