While running the Tinnitus thread, ear plugs were discussed, which lead into this thread of Ear Buds. Looking for some comments to the following: 1. Do you use ear buds? What brand and what seal, silicone or foam type? 2. Pro and Con of ear buds. Sound quality. Fit quality. 3. If you have Tinnitus what sound system do you prefer? Really appreciate any and all comments as I do have Tinnitus and wish to present collected information. I checked out the Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers as a possible change way down the road. The foam ear plug with my helmet speakers pushed against the ear seam to work OK for two reasons: 1. The speaker quality and volume is OK but looking to better. 2. The foam ear plug really works well in elimination of outside noise, which permits better quality sound from the speakers at slightly reduced volume. My concern is sacrificing the great job the ear plugs provide, the quality of the ear buds and the high cost of the better ear bud. $200 and up is a very careful purchase. Enough said, hope all have a great and safe summer. All those up in northern Minnesota and along northern Lake Superior, Ont. The "Beast" and I will be through next week. Really looking foreword to this trip as planned two years ago. Longboater

I use them when cutting grass: it gets boring cutting grass for 6 to 8 hours. I have a set of Sony's and JVC's that were probably the cheapest available because my wife bought them for me. Sound is good but it never really blocks out all the noise from the mower. One draw back is that they become uncomfortable after several hours. I am sure that a more expensive set would improve the comfort. Another drawback is that I find myself turning them up after several hours of use, and this can lead to long term problems.

I use the in the ear, ear buds, cuz it cuts the wind racket from my Nolan N103 helmet. The inexpensive Skull Skins ear buds have worked best for me , even better than the more expensive Koss in ear buds.

Oldest daughter bought her old man a pair of Skull Candy earbuds, silicon cushioned, rasta colors. For $20 they are comfortable and when I first used them with my I-Touch I had to stop the bike and turn the volume down. They are great IMHO.

I'm sure we're talking two different things here, but I use these: http://hifi-ring.com/2008/04/06/sony_mdr-as40ex_active_style_earphones.html I use them with my little GoGear Vibe and they sound great, work great, fit great. But like Brian, they get uncomfortable when I use them for hours on end. Primarily, I think, because my ear canals are not the exact same size. one fits tighter than the other. No, it's not the product. My other buds (LG and Monster) fit the same way. I don't tie them into anything on my bike, so I can't comment on anything about that. The Sony's are the best of the three that I have... Edit: I bought them at Wal-Mart for about the same price shown in the link if I remember right. I could point you in the direction of some high-end Comms buds meant for two-way if your're talking about using them for all-around stuff on your bike: ie. music, intercom and CB... Is that what you're doing? Last edited on Thu Jul 8th, 2010 08:51 am by CaptainMidnight85 ____________________ "They're gonna make it look like suicide." Hunter S. Best ones I found are the Etymotic ER6i http://www.etymotic.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=etymotic&utm_content=Best%2BiPhone%20Accessory%201&utm_campaign=Best%2BiPhone%20Acc%20Macworld%201&gclid=CMfpx_3m26ICFQPJsgodRxWAxg They are a bit pricey but you can get the foam plugs that are like foam ear plugs. I have a hard time having earplugs in my ears is the only problem. If you can stand the "flanged" style earplug you can get unbelievable sound out of your music player. You get very good sound out of the foam plugs, but they need to be seated pretty deep to get the great bass these can produce. They are also small enough not to be bothered under a helmet.

I use J Buds. Very comfortable, you hardly feel them. Great sound quality, great bass. And they relatively inexpensive. I think I paid $30 for them. And they hold up very well.

Many thanks all for the speedy reply. Great information here with lots to digest. Yes, this study is to provide me with an acceptable device that allows the wearer to be comfortable for long periods of time. Unwanted noise elimination and good sound quality, all under a full helmet too. This thread together with the Tinnitus thread will probably run into the fall season as timing allows. Thanks again, Longboater
