now i know all things vary from person to person and here in the great state of iowa and illinois i dont have to wear a helmet if i dont want to lovely thing about state laws

but when i hit that june bug at 75mph and it hit me just above the fore head and i about crashed it got me thinkin and ive worn one ever seince

now i just posted about glasses and goggles as to what you all use thats best to keep the rain outta your eyes seince i wear glasses i have dropped a ton of money into prodcuts that just dont work worth a hoot i have to say i bought a universal fit of a face shield and its a bear to remove and install when i need it so ive been searchin for a replaceable helmet so from what i can tell the visor will not only act as a pair of sunglasses and to keep the rain droplets off my glasses  tell me what you all think?

now im not looking at buying this today or anything but i will be replaceing my helmet probably over the next winter or maybe next tax season price is good and its a great brand as far as i have checked

so just lemme know and to answer any future questions i dont do full helmets even tho they are much safer im alittle colustrophobic and i am constantly uncomfortable in them so i figure if i am more comfortable in a half helmet so be it.

i appreciate any and all input thanks.

Might try and find one like it local. Not to buy but to see that you like the way it feels every helmet feels different. Also see if the visor is fog free or they offer one that is. Not a brand that I know about so can't offer anything there. Might see the ease of visor replacement some can be a real pain to change out. JMO.

I like my el-cheapo HJC half-helmet with visor. You can remove the furry neck piece on the back when it's hot out. I like being out in the open too.

I like a shorty too... but get one with a neck collar... it keeps that puppy from scooping wind and riding up.  Secondly... I have never worn one for any period of time but I LOVE that Scorpion helmet.  HJC has a couple of similar models but I always return to looking at that Scorpion.  I have to admit I also like the AGV Dragonfly... but them danged Italians must have some dinky little heads 'cuz even their largest size won't fit me... (not even close)

Ah gotz an awfully big noggin!  XD

yeah i went down to the outlet that stocks them locally i lied to them to wear it lol they wanted 150bucks for it jezuz highway robbery i can get it online for 109 but they didnt seem to care.

anyways the flip visor goes down just 3/4 way down the bridge of your nose so it is about to the top of your cheek bones as the youtube video showes i did like the fit the fabric inside was top end quality and the neck guard that was built in and also removabale is a plus so all in all i think it may be worth the 100bucks to buy one

the liners are 15bucks each and the sunshades are about 13 dollars each in several diffrent colors but they dont offer the transition lens yet.

so im kickin it around seein what i want they sell a 3/4 helmet similar modle to this one but it has a drop full face visor with a drop down sun screen seperate but i dont like all that it'd be a must if i rode up north tho lol.

Peterbilt.

Consider shipping.. and the graciousness of that dealer to let you try on that helmet... is that REALLY that much more?  Come on... throw your local guy a bone.

Personally, I'd do it.  Get a helmet that you like and will wear... and you'll wear it!

And that... is the entire point!

If you get (and wear) a helmet, you can growl up to the cagers behind you with this stuck to the side of that Scorpion...

I love scowling at them at traffic lights...

The HJC IS-2 helmet is almost the same and less $$$ then the scorpion.  The only thing is that I do not remember the neck coller being removable, I can check on that when I get home Wed.  Here is a link to one, but they can be found cheaper.  You might have already looked at it from your thread about the glasses though.

I have been extremely happy with mine and does work great in the rain.

Have you considered a modular? I've got a Nolan N-102, and love it. It can be open or closed, and has a clear shield with a flip-down tinted section for sun.

I know that you said you feel clostrophobic, and you'd bite the bullet, but the reality of biting pavement keeps me in full coverage. I've seen the pictures of Cousin Jack's helmet after his accident, and frankly, my face looks rough enough already.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, just trying to look after a fellow forum member.:waving::waving::waving:

I own the Scorpion EXO 100. If your head shape is oval front to rear, then this helmet may work for you. If you are like me & have a round, basketball shaped head, the EXO will give you a bad hot spot on your forehead. I junked the exo after one season & went to the HJC 1/2 helmet & recently the HJC SY-MAX-2 modular. You might want to check
http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmet-faq.htm & read the section on helmet shapes. More information than you might want. BTW I bought my Sy-Max thru NewEnough.com for $129 delivered.....-Rich

well i stopped off at the local bike shop

good think i posted this to get some info on the people who sugessted other brands because the one i was lookin at really didnt fit worth a hoot i ended up going with the

HJC IS-2 it is pretty much the same thing im lookin at on the scorpion modle and the same price they hit me up for

99 dollars for the helmet and 20bucks for a clear shield it comes with a light smoke but i want a clear one for night time riding if i ever need it.

so for 130 dollars not a bad deal i figure i believe thats one of th esole purposes to this fourm to ask questions and to get good responses from a wide variety of people

again i really wanna thank all who helped me out when i bought my 1st helmet i wasnt picky and bought the cheapest thing on the shelf lol i was too excited and wanted to just go riding but now that i know how uncomfortable that choice has been i know now what to look for in a helmet.

thanks to all and happy ridin this summer
