I see the chart, and I still think that would be putting the gear ratio down to close to the bottom. If indeed a 6th gear were available to drop the RPM as you suggested, I am willing to bet a box of donuts that the engine would not be able to increase speed easily from 70-75 MPH against a 35 mph headwind. IMO, it wouldn't pull a 35 mph headwind anyway without dropping back to the normal 5th gear. For me, I just don't see the point of wanting to drop it down so much. The engine is made to breathe easily and run comfortably right on up through 5,500 rpm just the way it is. I have in fact, run for several hours in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear taching 5k to 6k all the time playing with others in some really neat twisties in the Poway, California area. IMO Honda got it really right. Just my little story for the 3/4 cents it is worth... But, even at the above..... yes, it could benefit from a 6th gear OD IF a tail wind were following you on a west Texas or Arizona string straight road that is 550 miles long between fuel stops.
