Can anyone recommend a good all around riding jacket?  I ride mainly in spring summer and fall.  If temps get below 32 F  I usually dont ride.

I have a cortech tour master from kneedraggers.com about $180, my son got it for me and I love it. Has a zip out liner for cold weather and vent zippers to open in hot weather.

If you want leather try   LeatherUp.   I have 1 of theirs and really like it.  I also have a air mesh for summer.  It is a no name from ebay.  Nothing to brag about.

I like fancy flashy Goldwings, and I like fancy flashy riding apparel also. But I will not have half of it, it has to be functional also.

I recommend Scorpion brand riding jackets and riding pants.  I have had a bunch of them and all do something but none do it all. Scorpion brand jackets seem to handle the entire season.

My outer jacket is mesh, but not total mesh so it is still very strong and has protection in key areas. The mesh panels are just right..not too small, not too big.  The jacket has two liners. It has a very light thin windproof and waterproof liner(no more raincoats needed) and also has a nice quilted liner for cold weather.
To go with the mesh part of the jacket I have purchased a cool vest that has crystals in it that expand and hold water for a whole day.  If you put on a cotton T shirt then the cool vest under your mesh jacket.....you will stay very comfortable and cool on an extremely hot day.  Last year we had ten or so days of 107 degrees......it did its job well.

The pants .......also have mesh panels.......and fit and look good, are not like those normal baggy stupid looking ones.......and unlike leather pants can be put in the washing machine.   They also have a windproof and waterproof liner.  Unfortunately the pants do not have a quilted liner.......but with a set of thermal pants........and a heated seat......I suppose they would work.....but in winter I do switch back to full leathers......only use the textile stuff in spring, summer ,fall........Kit

I love my TourMaster Cortech too. Warm with the liner, but it comes out above 65°F.

I just got a Tour Master Transition Jacket. Only got to try it once so far but I'm sure I'll like it in cool weather (sping/fall) But I do plan to have it for my trip this summer since it is water proof but still breaths. Plenty of vents with the removable liner. This is the cheapest place I found it.

I have heard nothing but good things about Scorpion products from their helmets to their clothing.  My thirty year old leather needs retiring and I am looking at the high tech stuff from Scorpion myself.

I'm very satisfied with my Tourmaster Saber Series 2 3/4 length jacket I got from Leatherup, for $107

It has a zip-out insulated liner and lots of vents. I've been comfortable riding in it in temps from freezing to upper 70s. Well thought out jacket with lots of pockets and nice details

I'm also impressed with the Tourmaster Caliber pants with the zip-out insulated liner. I feel 'naked' without them!  :baffled:

I got a exellement "cool rider" leather jacket from http://www.leatherup.com back in february. a very nice fitting, well made leather jacket at a great price..........$99. It has a zip out liner and is vented front to rear........ has plenty of pockets. Good thick leather that is very pliable. Have ridden in temps from freezing to 75 degrees F thus far and has been very comfortable. Make sure you order a size larger than normal............. their sizing runs a little small. I wear a XL normally..... had to get a XXL. they will exchange for free one time. "you pay return shipping".

Nice people and fast ship........ go get ya one.

Protection is always #1 priority over made in china "bargain price jacket".  If leather is your preference then I must strongly recommend Fox Creek Leather.  Made in the USA, customer support and quality you will find extremely hard to beat.  Did I mention made in the USA?

I still use the Joe Rocket jacket I got when I had my GSXR. It is hands down my favorite piece of clothing, because it is so functional. It has elbow, shoulder and spine armor, and is ballistic nylon. It has a waterproof, windproof liner that zips into the inside, and with that liner in place, I am comfortable in a T-shirt (with the jacket on, obviously) down to about 50F. If I put a sweater on as well, I'm fine down to about 33F (and haven't ridden at less than that, so I don't know about colder).

On the other end, I'll take the liner out up to about 75F, at which point I start unzipping the vents on the arms to let some cooling air in. Above 85F, a large section of the arms and central part zips out, leaving (mostly) mesh, the armor, and strategically-placed ballistic nylon for abrasion protection. This lets the wind blow right through, and I've worn that up to about 95F, which is as hot as I've ridden through.

I also have Joe Rocket ballistic nylon pants, with hip and knee armor. They zip to the jacket, and also have a zip-in windproof and waterproof liner. With jeans underneath, I'm quite comfortable down to 33F with the liner in. I've had them on without the liner up to about 75F, and they were still quite comfortable.

I feel naked and unprotected when riding without my jacket and pants, so I wear them every time I ride, even if just for a short way.

Right after I bought my Wing, we went to Burlington coat factory, I was looking for the traditional " Harley type" leather jacket...They had some but nothing to fit my big belly.....So we bought this leather jacket with a zip out liner, with the choker collar. To be more visible it has red and white strips on the front and back..Nice jacket, also very heavy too....It's better than any "Harley type" jacket I ever owned......

I just picked up a Fieldsheer Moto-Morph jacket.  It comes with , built in soft armor, a winter liner & the textile panels remove to leave you a mesh jacket for hot weather riding.   To me it's a 4-season jacket.

I will 2nd GSMacLean's comments about the Joe Rocket ballistic mesh gear.

That is what I was wearing when Penske tried to take me out.  I did not have a torn spot anywhere on the jacket or pants.  Plenty of rub marks, but the material stayed together and did what it is designed to do.

No broken bones or asphalt burns either.:bat:

I just wish the helmet had stayed on my head.  Maybe I would have been lucky enough to miss out on the concussions.
