Since I am currently working on a list of names/numbers for the beach party, it would be no problem to modify it for the whole group.
If you want to pm me your (real) name address phone number(note cell or home), whats available. I can get a list going and make it available to people who are traveling...
It might be a good idea to give the list to a few others as well, since I am not on here 24/7... If we give it to some that are in differant parts of the world, chances are somebody will be available at any given time with the names/numbers

| Is there anyway that it could be set up on a downloadable basis with our user name and password so it could be tracked?......on the forum site that is. Or would that still be to accessible?? Last edited on Tue Jun 24th, 2008 01:24 am by nightwizard40

| I'm a member of an internet group with the common interest of Ford diesel pickups. Many years ago they set up the same sort of thing, and posted it in an area of the forum where only members could get access. That was a much bigger forum, with a huge number of names on the list of contacts, and as far as I know, there never has been any abuse of the system.

Well .......what could it hurt to have your name and phone number, and your area such as Town and State on a list on a forum sheet?
I am the first one to admit I do not know a whole lot about computers and how someone with devious ideas might try to use things......but that is just basic information....that is public knowledge already.
Exactly what could someone do with those three bits of information......??? Name, phone number, and Area?
I had a fellow once who copied my phone number down off my truck and made a bunch of phone calls and somehow used my number to make the calls......I got this phone bill for a little over $9000.00.
Verizon did not beat me up.....they talked to me......I did have to get to a supervisor, but they took the charges off my bill......and they caught the person who did the calling too.....those fellow always make a mistake somewhere.......anyway.....I do not see what harm it would do to be listed as public info on the computer.....that way if someone did have an emergency, and did need help.....and if they had printed out a copy beforehand.......they could simply call two or three of us close till they find someone who is not busy....or on a ride themselves or whatever. There are those that will think they'll get deluged with prank phone calls if their number is posted on the internet. I've been on the list I mentioned earlier for five years, and have never received a prank phone call as a result. I have had the opportunity to help three people that needed help.
Overall, it's been a very positive experience.

Most forums now have a private section that's available to members only, that way the bots that troll the web can't access any information contained in that private section.
Bots troll for any information that can be sold or used for ID theft. You would also see an increase of spam in your email and an increase of telemarketer calls on your phone. Your phone number could also be used to spoof caller id.

My name, address and phone number are already out there, it is called a phone book, so having them on here would be no big deal.
One problem with having the list on here and the need to get ahold of one of the keepers of lthe ist. If you are stuck by the side of the road without Internet access how are you going to come on here to ask for a name?
I think just make up the list and have it available to registered members.

First name is all that's needed & then phone number in an 'area' would be useless to anyone.
I am close to Topeka, but live out of the city. Count me in.
If anyone is coming near Topeka, PM me & I'll send phone #.

Great idea Digger. Problem with me is I'm way too nomadic for this to work unless it's something I can keep updated.
A comment I have is you could use the forum user names as an added security instead of the first name last name thing. Anyone on the list could expect a call with that username. The only one I can think of that would have a real problem with this would be SEE?.
"Hello?"
"SEE?"
"What?"
"You SEE?"
"U? C? what?"
"SEE? there?"

Digger,
When D-Rod thought of this,
http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/forum4/47442.html
I had visions of doing most of it myself. I had even checked out Frappr (with D-Rod's suggestion) to show on a map where everyone was. But, since you stepped up,
Thank You
