Cousin Jack and lovely wife Red,

Are each now prone in a hospital bed.

The deer escaped with no apparent harm,

But Red will have a second operation on her lower left arm.

The State Trooper "Butch Carter" believes the deer was badly stung,

But not as much as Cousin Jack who has a collasped left lung.

The beloved ole Goldwing sits wrecked in a garage shed,

Along with the helmet that saved Cousin Jack's head.

Cousin Jack wanted to let all know he will be off-line for a bit,

Because for now, he can hardly sit.

This is little brother writing at Cousin Jack's request.  He and Red ran into a deer on a road in Michigan.  He and I, and our wives were to meet up the next day and take our annual trip (this year to Nova Scotia), but looks like the get-together will be in room 516 in Marquette Genereal Hospital in Marquette, Mich.  They are doing much better.  Mel still has a shunt in his lung to drain fluid from a lung (due to a few broken rebs), and Sandy will need another operation tomorrow morning.  Her arm, above the wrist, suffered a compound fracture.  Will share pictures of the bike and helmets when they get back to Washington state.  It is highly likely the helmet saved Cousin Jack, and he is now an international reborn advocate for protective gear.

The deer escaped.  Goudger gave me a good description (was brown and had a big eye) , and I will be going after it tomorrow.  Should at least enjoy some venison from the ordeal.

All, take care, and stay upright all the time.

Little Brother Jack

Hey Cousin Jack:  I am delighted that yourself and your Red have survived to ride again. I have always felt you were a bit special in the way you word things and your viewpoint on life.

Hurry up and get well.....so you can get a new bike.   Glad you are okay.....but you need to quit picking on those deer.

Kit

Oh No!  Man...I feel so bad for both of you CJ and Red.  Even a seasoned veteran like Cousin Jack isn't immune to deer.

Prayers and best wishes to you and the family.

What a way to start the summer...

Man I hate to hear such things, Prayers for you and Red brother. Deer are my biggest worry when riding and there are millions of them around here. I have the unmentionable DAs on my bike, hope I never find out they don't work.
