Cousin Jack wrote: Cousin Jack and lovely wife Red,
Are each now prone in a hospital bed.
The deer escaped with no apparent harm,
But Red will have a second operation on her lower left arm.
The State Trooper "Butch Carter" believes the deer was badly stung,
But not as much as Cousin Jack who has a collasped left lung.
The beloved ole Goldwing sits wrecked in a garage shed,
Along with the helmet that saved Cousin Jack's head.
Cousin Jack wanted to let all know he will be off-line for a bit,
Because for now, he can hardly sit.
Any old fool can sit down and write a few silly lines after a couple jars
But it takes a great man to write a proper paragraph after a serious accident
I'm really sorry Cousin Jack for you and your wife Red
P.G. you both will make a full recovery and ride your wing again

I am so sorry to hear about youre misfortune Jack. The deer this year seem to be every where.I have no idea why but Ale Gore knowes I bet I wish you both a speedy recovery.Lets make this the only deer accident we have this year in the forum. My advice is turn off the radio at night and slow down. The deer here in NC seem to just watch you ride bye them at night, but its that one stupid deer that scares the #$it out of me.I lost a 1200 last year. The bikes can be replaced our lives cant.
I wish every one a safe rideing season

This is no way for a spinner of stories and teller of tales to gain experience. You will never be able to put the feeling into words, oh yeah the pain and suffering from the wounds, but not the moment of reality and surrender of invincibility.
Sorry to hear of the incident and spoilage of your plans for a great adventure. This is bad enough but thank the Lord it was no worse and we didn't lose you two. Prayers and best wishes from Waco to you and your lady Red.

I've heard of passing the buck but not hitting the buck!
I have hit those critters on four wheels when I lived in Wi. They come out of nowhere and it still freaks me out just thinking about it. Can't imagine it on two wheels.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the two of you for a speedy and complete recovery.
You are an inspiration to a lot of folks and we need you back out there putting into words, so elequently, what we all feel while we're out there riding.Last edited on Wed Jul 2nd, 2008 02:12 am by pbus

I just caught this thread. What rotten luck! I'm really glad Red and CJ are going to be alright.
They are a long way from home with a broken bike. I could kick in $25 if someone has a way to get it to them, perhaps a Paypal account if CJ has one. It wouldn't take too many of us to get them enough to ship the bike and themselves home for regrouping. I know that CJ being retired like me isn't exactly rolling in dough.

Yeah...I'll kick in $25 too. Maybe someone (CJ's brother ) could set up a Paypal account for him quickly in his name.
Another thought comes to mind....wonder if his insurance policy has anything in it to get the bike and Red & he back to the homeland.

Just thinking out loud,,,with151 members in Michigan, maybe there's someone that could see to the bike for CJ and Red. Of course we don't know how bad the bike is damaged, but it's a thought.
My funds a extremly limited right now being on disability, but I'm sure I could scrape up something. We need an emoticon of a smiley turning his pockets inside out.
