My goodness!! I am truely shocked to find this thread and very saddened to hear of your misfortune. I breathed a sigh of relief to hear that you were both not hurt worse, even though the injuries that you both sustained are more than enough for anyone to endure. :(

It goes without saying that you can count me in to help with any fund that we can raise to assist Red and CJ to get back home or whatever is needed. :clapper:

I appreciate that Mel's brother will have his hands full, but if he or someone could get an assesment of what might be needed to get the bike mended, please let us know, as there may be some who could donate parts even if they can't afford the cash donation. :baffled: Perhaps some members who are local to where they are could help out by finding the relevent information?

This thread again proves to me, that this internet community that Wingnut started has become an incredible world wide family, which is rivaled by none. When one of our members is hurting, so we hurt with them. The frusration for many of us is that we are so many thousands of miles away and can help so little, when we would wish to do more.

I also hold out hope that Mel and Sandy can still somehow make Calhoun and the Meet & Greet, because that is my big chance to shake their hands and those of so many of my internet "family"

I hope the messages of support continue to help you both on the road to a fast recovery.:waving::3sum::waving:

First of all let me add my heartfelt prayers to the ones already sent, for speedy recoveries. Second let me apologize for being late to catch this thread, We have the grand kids down for a week visit and I had not been reading the posts as I should have, for that I'm truly sorry. I have as many here have had some broken ribs and they aren't fun by no means...I would think that with all the members we have on this forum that we can figure out how to get Cousin Jack and Red home if need be...

Cousin Jack I'm so very glad that you and Red survived this mishap, and I also hope that your brother goes and finds that deer...Right now you and Red just worry about getting well and back to good health....Keep us posted of any thing you and Red need.. While I'm I the wrong area I will help where needed....

Claude

AAauuuuggghhh!!!! :shock::shock::shock:

Just caught this thread, as work has had me tied to the stake lately...

CJ, we are praying for you here in NY. If there's anything at all we can do to help, please let us know. I'm so sorry this happened, but greatly relieved to here that there weren't even more serious injuries!

Little Brother Jack, thanks for letting us all know about this. If necessary, I am definately good for some financial support, so count me in!

They are a long way from home with a broken bike. I could kick in $25 if someone has a way to get it to them, perhaps a Paypal account if CJ has one. It wouldn't take too many of us to get them enough to ship the bike and themselves home for regrouping. I know that CJ being retired like me isn't exactly rolling in dough.

Yeah...I'll kick in $25 too. Maybe someone (CJ's brother:baffled:) could set up a Paypal account for him quickly in his name.

Another thought comes to mind....wonder if his insurance policy has anything in it to get the bike and Red & he back to the homeland.:baffled:

A PayPal account would make it easy.  As already alluded to by others I likewise have only disability so my ability to contribute is limited.  That doesn't mean I will not contribute it only means I will feel it wasn't enough.

Hey Everyone, the Real CJ here and not that pale imitation, his little brother (who writes a pretty good poem, himself, don't you think?), and I want to tell you we need nothing more from you than what you've already given us -- that priceless love and understanding that only people who share a great passion can give. Your support and good cheer has already worked miracles: we are in the best hospital in the midwest, and will be discharged (!) tomorrow if all goes well; my brother and sister and law are here standing by in a car, and will take us back; I'll only bring the bike back if not totalled, and we will haul it a rental trailer if that's the case..... Probably is totalled, however, and I could use some ideas from you about how much a stellar 1996' Aspencade is worth where you are ..... maybe something flash at the insurance agent.....

Anyway, again... I am overcome with awe at what this forum brings us, and the great joy I have gotten from being on it. What Wexman didn't tell you was that he called twice (twice!) from Ireland, even! I always liked the whole idea of Ireland.... always..... and now I know why. Putt n Along and Ivan"alphabet" have also made more than generous offers. But, friends, we don't need money, we don't need a new bike, we don't need anything.....except you. God Bless You all......

CJ and Red

Hello all;

I just got off the phone with Cousin Jack. The timing was perfect, he was being wheeled back into his room following an x-ray session.

He seems to be in very good spirits and allows that he is getting better with each passing day.

CJ is one heck of a good guy, visiting with him in person just reaffirmed that for me.

We traded "memories" of our mutual accidents with glimpses of "just before" and then  "after the fact".

Nature does strange things with our memory.  We both can see exactly what was about to happen, and then all goes blank until a much later point in time.

CJ did mention that since his South America trip is off, that he will try and make the Calhoun North American Rally this September.

So, there it is.  You all have to redouble your efforts to get to Calhoun, because both CJ and myself want to personally meet and thank all of our supporters.

Also spoke to CJ earlier, and I appreciate his time as he was sounding a bit breathless what with the broken ribs and what have you.

The upside to this accident is that I may get the chance to meet him in person at Calhoun:cool: but I am sorry that his other plans have gone a bit west.:(

Sounds like Red might be a while before she is giving the Royal wave, from the passenger's seat, as they have had to put a rod in her arm to help the broken bones... ouch!!! Maybe Helen the Viking and Red can compare plates and rods if they get to meet up. I am sure some others can join in on that game!!

We are looking forward to having CJ back on here and posting his musings and I now definately want a copy of that book!!!:D

Chin up CJ & Red :clapper::clapper::waving::waving:

I had a long chat with Red and Cousin Jack about an hour ago :clapper:

Red answered my call with a very sad voice :(  I said this is a call from an old guy in Ireland called Redwing she cheered up immediately

She told me all about her injuries and that she was in a lot of pain  :bowing:

She told me that they are going home tomorrow and that it was a very long journey of 1800 miles :whip: but they would make a number of rest stops.

She thanked me very kindly for calling and handed me over to.......

Cousin Jack  :coollep:

We had a long chat about the accident and he thanked me again for my call :action:

Oh no, another scar contest at Calhoun!!!:shock: Whos' bringing the metal detector?:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:

I'm so glad to hear both of you are doing good, CJ. Take your time and don't either of you over do the "getting back in the swing thang".

Even if the bike is totaled by the insurance company, buy it bact at salvage price and part out what good parts are left. Maybe you can find a local forum member that has plenty of space to store it till you decide what to do with it.:)
