So glad you two made it through alive! I am sure it will be a painful recovery, but I guess it beats the alternative! You are in our prayers. Some good friends of ours suffered the same fate a few years back down in New Mexico...hit a dear at about 70 mph at night. They spent 2 weeks in the hospital before being released for the long trip back to Oregon. They lived to ride again but then age finally won out. They are still around, but no more riding.
On the selfish side...I am looking forward to your wonderful story telling when you get back home and feel like relating a tale or two!
Take care CJ & Red.

Well, no excuse, I missed this thread as well, I am so sorry to hear of your accident and spoiled vacation. Just thankful that you'll live to tell the tale.
When I came across this I had a nasty "there by the grace of God....." feeling, because I missed a deer by about two feet near Minnedosa in western Manitoba last Thursday.
It's amazing how fast it happens, one minute I am cruising along at 65mph, listening to old Beatles, next thing I know I am practically stopped, still standing on the brake pedal and this doe is giving me the hairy eyeball over my windshield.
It's just lady luck, because if it had stepped out half a second later I'd be in the same boat as you, just a different hospital.
Get well soon, don't rush to get armrests on the new ride, you may have some coming

Farewell to Nova Scotia
You may not know the song, CJ and Red, but it seems to apply in your case. So sorry to read of your mishap, and sad that you will not be gracing our shores just now. But I am happy that you will both recover fully and move on.
I am late getting out with my well wishes, but have been coping with some family health issues myself.
Recover fast.

| If CJ has his own Paypal account it would be great we can all just pass a few dollars straight onto him and cut out an extra Paypal commission charge.

Hey Steve,
CJ said earlier in the thread, "Thanks for the offer, but he didn't need the money."
Just send your prayers!

Always going to be an awkward one that... guys and gals that want to help, but a recipient who doesn't want to have assistance. I guess all we can do is wait out and if CJ needs a bit of assistance he just has to holler!!

I for one, will not hesitate to help in any way I can. I am sure both CJ & Red will be a little shell shocked for awhile. But I hope it does not discourage them from getting back out riding. I kinda doubt that is going to happen though. So when they are ready to get a wing on the road, I think this can be our chance to repay them for thier great inspiration they have given myself and I'm sure many others.
So hang on to that windshield, or armrest, or the thing-a-ma-bob that goes on the whatca-ma-call-it. If they won't take money,,,,,,,,then maybe we can get them back out winging so we can read some more great tales of the Adventurest couple.

| All the best wishes to you both for a quick recovery. You folks seem to have a lot more trouble with deer than we do with kangaroos. !!!!

Just caught this thread and went from shock to relief that you are both now on the mend.
Take consolation in a Spanish saying, "Hierba mala nunca muere".
BTW, how do you KNOW that the deer alerts don't work? What if you hadn't taken then off......

Just now saw about CJ & Red's mishap....been here every day .
You two need prayers?...they've been sent.
I used to ride and hunt deer allot in that area for 30 years & never hit a deer? Dumb luck, there.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery & willing to help if/when needed. May your next adventure be more predictable.
Get well, Stay well.

I don't believe that's a trailer, looks like another travel trunk mounted into the trailer recevier hitch.
