Come on MEMBERS sign up.

I admit it took me a while but I finally got signed up for Rudys Directory,

Where are all the members? What are you guys waiting for? 361 members in Texas, only 3 have signed up,come on, where is the hospitality? I don't see a lot of helpful Texas members that I thought I would see. Some states not represented at all.

Thanks Rudy, this is a great idea if more will participate it will be even better.

Hey Rabbit, if you break down give me a call.:cheeky1:

We now have 110 members signed up for the helper's directory.

26 states still have no representation and many only have one member in it.
I'd sure hate to break down in one of those no-help states.

The international countries are looking kind of thin as well.

I'm sure it will populate with time.  We get a few people signing up most days.

I'll sign up soon. My wife's from the wee North and is still not too receptive to stranglers knocking on our door at night. I have tools and ignorance to go with it, but along with my two friends: Will Ng and Able, I may be of some help to some one else...

Just because you sign up doesn't mean you have to make a contact post about yourself.

No one will come knocking at your door at night because your address is not listed.  Only your town, region and a contact phone number.  I list my usually available hours in the post and my phone does not ring if I don't want it to.

Everyone has to sign up to be able to see the others there who have offered contact when you need them.  Not everyone can provide help but everyone can use some now and then.

Later if you feel you can do something, make your post.  Then if things change, you can delete it or make changes to the post yourself.  It is your post to manage.

It is always current that way and self maintaining, for the most part.  Nothing needs to be compiled, published or mailed.

Right now we have 71 posts by members that can render assistance but we have 122 registered members so far.  This means that we have  51 members who can't offer anything right now.  That doesn't mean anything other than that.

That said, I would still try to help someone in trouble at any hour if I could.  But that is my gig, not everyone's, and I don't think anyone expects it to be.

This is a private listing for us to help each other.   It is a case where you don't have to give to get.

Well, I just checked the site and we still have a lot of states with no one registered at all!!

Come on folks. this is a good idea and what does it hurt to be able to assist a fellow rider when they're in your area and need a little help or information?

With the up coming rally in Calhoun less than 2 months away I would think everyone would feel better if they knew they had some one to call in case of a break down or help in finding a local shop or place to stay for the night. Not all of us are money bags you know and can't always afford the best accomodations when on a tightly budgeted trip.

Aaron,
You just log in to the system and go to the section where you live and make a new post.
Put your info in it with all the details you want to include (needs a city and phone number at least) and I'll clean it up for you as I make passes through the system.
PM me if you need more assistance with it.

We got our first member from Mexico signed up!   He made a post but left no way to contact  him.  We need phone numbers and cities or nearby regions if this is going to help anyone.  Thanks to all who have signed up so far.

Cool.

While I was in there cleaning up things, I noticed a few problems...

Some of you are offering help but not including a phone number.  Without this, your offer is of no use since no one can reach you on the road.  Please add a phone number if you plan to post offers of help.

Also some of you have included your home address.  I cannot recommend that unless you want uninvited visitors popping in at unexpected times.  Up to you if that is what you want there, but I wouldn't suggest it.

Good work everyone.  The list is growing nicely over the past few days...
Thanks to cc for getting it out in the light again.

Now you're settn' the example lad...

For you US guys, 32 states now have at least 1 helper available.  Kudos to you guys.
My advice, however, is NOT to have a problem in the following states as there is no helper representation there yet:

Alaska
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Hawaii
Idaho
Kentucky
Maine
Maryland
Massachusettes
Montana
New Hampshire
New Jersey
North Carolina
North Dakota
Rhode Island
South Dakota
Vermont
Wyoming

Interesting that most of these are northern states.  I guess the south is really friendiler after all.

Makes ya wonder...  ok Hawaii doesn't make me wonder, but the rest? :baffled:

You can always call me.  I'll try to find ya help no matter where you are.

No, you got it done.  West Virginia was not on the list of missing states was it?
I'll have to go back and look now...

Nope, you are in there for West Virginia, Mr Snake.
