I know this has been discussed numerous times, but there's a trick to putting a Goldwing on the center stand and I finally learned how to do it! It's so nice working at a motorcycle shop and having other experienced people to learn from. I finally did it though. I put a GL1200 in the showroom up on the center stand all by myself! I only weigh 137lbs and so the technique is the key. If I can do it, then everone should be able to learn how. It's not all about muscle or strength.

Well done, you obviously got the technique, but be very careful doing that - I tore a calf muscle with mine. It didn't half hurt.

Although the clips demonstrate an 1800 I expect the same principle applies:

Select the video for "Placing the GL1800 on the center stand:"

Good video showing the method and it is the same for any bike basically. However, like he said, if your suspension is higher , it's easier , if it's lower and your bike is sitting lower, it will take more effort. I've seen that happen where it was very difficult to get a Silver wing on the center stand, but something was not quite right with the stand either. It didn't work like it should.
Well, I'm off for a ride now...........

| Mine came with an after market center stand that is really easy to put up on. It doesn't lift the rear tire completely off the ground , but, gives just enough lift to stabalize the bike. and, it's really easy for my old tired ruptured disc old ass.

| Bravo Jennifer! I dropped mine to the side first time I tried. Now there is nothing to it.

| I put mine up on the stand nightly, i'm 6'4 270 punds, the center stand doesn't seem that hard at all. But most of my weight goes down on the peddle and i barely have to pull up and back on the bike.

Congratulations Jennifer. Had all kinds of faith in you. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. it's almost like the harder you try the harder it is to do it. Tony

Well done Jennifer. The GL1200 is regarded as the hardest Wing to haul onto the main stand, all the other ones including the GL1800 are much easier.

| The 1000 seems to need a bit more to stand it up. The 1200 was hard at first until I discovered the rear brake was all gummed up, after cleaning it the bike stood right up. I don't use muscle, I use the bike, a slight roll backward as you press down on the stand will lift most bike effortlessly. Learned that years ago and while at the bike shop learned to stage the bikes by pushing them with one hand near the headlamp and one on the handlebars. Pushing them backwards is much easier to control. I stage all my bikes in the garage like that.

I'm gonna keep practicing on bikes of all sizes just to make sure I get real familiar with the technique. We put all our bikes in the showroom on center stands if they have one because it keeps people from hopping on them all the time and it makes the bikes more stable if they do jump on it.
