I'd be happy with a well produced pin that I can hang on my vest.

I think it's a great idea and I would be happy to display one on my vest and one on my jacket. I wrote Patch about getting a forum patch for my vest, would love a pin too. I would gladly pay for it or donate the cost to the site.
Still room on my vest for a patch and a pin.

What Steve is looking for at the moment is for SOMEONE to POST a few designs ,so we can decide and get the thing moving ...I also think that you must be a contributing member to the forums to EARN the badge ,A lot of members stay silent and take in all the info and hardly ever post and then when there's a raffle or a give away ,they come out of the closet and are always first in line ,I think the badges should be given to members who have earned them first ,as a sort of thank you to them for helping out other members either by posting a problem or solving a problem or generally just taking part in the general chit chat of the forums ,or even posting rubbish (I am not going to mention silverfox or Redwing) .Ciaran

The 50 posts I quoted is just a rough guide, all we will really want to see is that the forum members asking for a pin actually participate on the forum. Anyone who makes a reasonable effort to get involved will be able to have a pin.

| This is a super idea. Before we start drawing though, I think we need an idea on how big the pin will be. I mean it will be pointless designing artwork with a lot of text for a pin that might only be 1/2" in size. How big will it be, will it be round or square or rectangle...

I think it's a great idea, May I suggest a double pin, pin to help hold it from spinning and perhaps the wing emblem from the first year with the SSGW in the middle.Don't think it should be a pin of a specific model of wing. And maybe different pins awarded for years on the site or as mentioned, an extraordinary act of kindness or assistance. Just some thoughts. And for sure, a minimum cost to cover at least postage plus aggravation on Steve's part.

I am totally crap at art work... couldn't draw a matchsick man, but I don't think there is a necessity for the logo of a Wing to be on it, since this is much more than just a Wing site, it should reflect the "international" flavour and also the origins in Ireland.
The origional patches were fantastic and may well do as a template for pin badges, or the latest logo being used on the Wesh Meet & Greet T shirts is also very good.
I firmly believe that they should be chargeable and then anyone can buy them, including the shy retiring types, like me , who prefer to read rather than post!!
If they are generously being donated by a member, then let the profit from sales be used by Steve, as he sees fit. I happily buy pins and patches for a couple of pounds and more, and I doubt anyone will baulk at a small fee.
So... pins, badges, patches, stickers, T shirts and baseball caps..... bring them on, if you can, we all have a choice to buy or not and many will I am sure.

I think this or a variation could look very nice. A set of golden wings attached to a green Ireland on a lacquered pin would stand out. For more colour, you could surround Ireland on a round pin in blue. I am no computer whiz so I won't be designing anything except verbally.

Excellent idea and kudos to the member from Germany for stepping forward with this very kind and generous offer!!
Definitely worth a few $$ to be donated back to Steve for this wonderful resource that we all have access to.
As for a design, I think it should be big enough to recognize easily, but not too big. ... say the size of a quater(1" in diameter) .... how about a 1975 Goldwing, to represent the bike that started it all, superimposed over a globe(seeing as we have members world wide) ... with the country of Ireland highlighted in green, behind the bike, which symbolizes the country of origin of this web site's founder?

| I had an idea on the pins....The pin be in the shape of the world or in the shape of a Shamrock as like everybody else has said and make Ireland stand out. Then on the bottom of the pin you could have bars hanging that said what level you are, i.e. "Guru, Active member, Very Active Member, and so on and so on. That way you won't have to repace pins as you move up, just add another bar.

| I am more Irish decent then anything else and would love something with a touch of Ireland in the pin. I don't mean wet and covered in moss either.
