I am sure that most of you know that Nightwing83 (Phil) and his wife Erika went down nearly a month ago and there is a sticky topic above that describes the ordeal they are going through.

Many of the good members here have generously reached into their pockets to help out, but it isn't enough.  From what I can tell, probably somewhere around $1000 to $2000 have been raised to help with bills.

Phil is not back at work, Erika is going into surgery again in the next day or two, and they still have a long road back.  I know that several of our members unfortunately know exactly what they are dealing with, and we all know that it could happen to us in a matter  of seconds.  We need to reach a bit deeper into our pockets, and it still may not be the last time.

I ask that every member that reads this write a check for an amount equal to  what you  would spend to take your family out to dinner  one evening-  just donate the equivelent of  one evening out.   There are  probably 25- 50 that have already helped out.   Good.   We need  you again.  For the many others, please  help  out a fellow  forum  member.  After a while, I think that we tend to overlook the sticky threads, but I am afraid that that this one isn't going away anytime soon, and Phil and Erika are going to need more help.

So come on.  We have thousands of members here.  If we all reached in our pockets for just a bit more that loose change, the $1000-$2000 would be $10 000 to $20 000.

I ask that each reader of this post respond with a simply reply.  I ask if you will step up to the plate with a donation.  If so,  reply  "I will"  and then send a donation.

I'll start.         I will.

I just got off the telephone with Phil Metzler and his financial situation is dire indeed.

This bit about putting his left hand into a cast has stopped him from getting back to work for another 6 to 8 weeks.   In addition to that, he told me that his right shoulder "clicked" a couple days ago and the MRI shows that it needs to have surgery also.  He is trying to hold off on that surgery until after his hand is out of the cast.

His employer is a tool and die machine shop which does not put them into the Big 500 corporate arena.   When the Federal mandate to keep his job open expires at the six month date, I have fears that Phil is not going to have a paycheck.

So far, he said he is on Disability but that is a severely reduced rate of income. He didn't give an amount and I didn't ask.

I did make a promise to him though, and that is:

I will make "annuity payments" to him monthly until he gets out of this crisis.
I know that most won't be able to match my contributions, but I do have a full time job.  And even in this economic arena we have, I can scrape up some extra bucks to send to Phil.

I am also asking for support from our forum members to reread what S. Clark has posted, and look into your own hearts and see how much you can help.  If we could get a couple hundred of us, or even more hopefully, to send $25 a month, that would help a bunch.  If you can afford more, please do what you can.

Phil is not asking us for help, but he does sorely need it all the same.  His church is helping in the food arena and the freezers are full.  But his utility bills are over due and that is not good.

I rarely ever get involved in something this deep, but this one is an exception.  So, I am asking for as many of you that can, to continue to donate what you can for Phil and his family.

Even though I'm on full disability I still pull in just over 2000 a month from 3 different checks from SS and the VA. I can do a monthy of 50 a month and challenege everyone to match it that can.

I  mean, what's 50 a month to some of you folks? A night's dinner at Red Lobster or Outback Steakhouse?:shock:

I didn't mention my amount, but the last check was for $50 and the annuity checks will be also.

I can't send much, but even a little helps the figure go up. It'll be in the mail tomorrow.

I've set Phil up as a bi-weekly transfer for $25.00 at my bank.

The next payday is Friday the 15th. He will get bi-weekly checks  starting then just like clockwork.

Comes out before I hit MacDonalds or Burger King.
I won't ever miss it. :)

I've just sent another $351.92 to Phil. This includes (as well as the donations sent this last few days) the £66 sterling that was collected from the raffle at the Welsh Meet N Greet, not £166 as I stared the other day. Blame that error on my head being a bit fuzzy after the return home. The £66 converted to dollars is $119.27 after the bank deducted it's commission.
I'll post screengrabs of the Paypal transactions later.

That is good Steve. I don't know what the total is, but it all is a help. And most likely our forum members as good as we all are, won't be able to provide enough steady funding to keep the wolves away from his door.

All we can do is each of us try to send him as much as our own situations allow.

Thanks to all who have sent in support for Phil.

John
