Now I am not saying all harley owners are bad guys. Most of the time they are nice and friendly and seem like good people. What I am saying is that a harley has a bad boy image for a reason. And that is why most people buy them. Including not so nice people. Like gangs for instance. I cant imaging the leader of the pack on a goldwing. But I am sure there are bad people that ride hondas.
What bugs me is the harley owners that truly believe that if it is not a harley it is not a motorcycle. Somebody who actually believes that must have a terrible self image to have who they are defined by something they own. I hope the repo man never gets there motorcycle because they will lose there soul in the process.
Another point is that people with a poor self image generally have more problems in life they need to drink over. BUT, I am not saying that anybody who drinks has a poor self image. Or anybody that rides a harley has a poor self image. Not at all. So dont read things into this post that are not there. These are just my personal observations that may or not be worth a hill of beans.Last edited on Thu Aug 7th, 2008 07:57 pm by handyrandy

OH boy, I'm sure glad you cleared that up. Flyone and V7Goose would be all over you. Now me, I never touch the stuff personally. But, just in case I ran over and looked in the mirror and I gotta tell ya, I look pretty damn good

I knew you where just goofing around. There are those however who go through life more likely to take things more personally than what would be considered normal, so I try to look out for them as to not ruin there day if I can help it.

hatchetman wrote: To ccsailor, I understand your huge disapointment in the lack of response with this regristry, & by the lack off support from Canadians. However, There might be some of us who chose to not sign up for valid reasons. Speaking for myself only, My work day can range from 10 hours to weeks away from home with no warning. My thoughts were that I would be an un reliable name on the list for that reason alone. I always stop for break downs when I can regardless of what the vehicle is & I just donated 3 pick up loads of furnature to a young family that lost everything in a fire.
So be discusted with me all you want! I do what I can do when ever I get the chance.
& wingnumberone, I like my American friends, Served along side them in some world conflicts & saved one soldiers life in 1983 when he swallowed a hornet that was in his coke can which made his throat swell shut. I cut his throat and stuffed in a bic pen so he could breath. So if your going to trash Canadians, Do it somewhere else.
I would add my name to Diggers list without any problems, I just might not be there for someone in need.
Wayne.
Thanks for pointing out the various situations that I'm sure many members are in and also for your generosity and service to others.
One has to realize that not everyone has the good fortune to own extra space, tools and equipment or to be able to assist. It isn't right to insinuate that they are selfish.
Many I'm sure, are keeping their bike by the skin of their financial teeth.
I've been fortunate and have signed up on the glhelpers list.
This forum didn't grow to 10,000 members overnight and neither will the help lists/ books.
A lot of people are also concerned about misuse if the list gets into the wrong hands.
While I've only personally met a few wingers I know many of the other names and their reputations from their posts. There aren't too many bad apples in the Saunders barrel.
Can you imagine an unknowing housewife getting a phone call saying "I'm Hatchetman and I'm coming to see you."

I don't think anyone expects anyone else to be available 24-7-365 no matter what list you subscribe to.
It's just a list of possibles when you are in need. You might need 10 contacts to get one that can help you at any specific time. It's just that the more possibles you have, the better the chances of finding one that is available at that time to help out.

I have been following this thread with an open mind, what little I have left, and as usual I'm amazed at the members who are willing to drive out of their way to help another member, either with a quick fix, a place to stay over night , and no I won't adopt you....Or make a post with pictures to do a major project on a Wing. I'm not going to drive from Houston, Texas to Orlando, Florida, just to give a brother a helping hand, tools, or use of my trailer, that I feel is the point that our brothers in Canada are trying to say........Just looking at a map of Canada makes me feel claustrophobic living in a city like Houston....
By that I mean that every little burg, town or city in Harris county is either surrounded by or is being taken over by the city of Houston, and then there's the areas Houston has tried to incorporate that isn't in Harris county....Harris county covers about 1,729 square miles, 49 square miles is under water as in lakes.....So for me to drive from my home to say Spring, Texas or even Huntsville, Texas that is within that 100 miles I said I would be available.....To prove that point get a Texas map put a stick pin in the center of Houston then figure out 100 miles around that pin, and you will see that its one hellva area to cover.... About 1/3 rd of that circle would be in the Gulf of Mexico, so if ya break down in the Gulf of Mexico, call the Coast Guard, they just gotta see your Wing floating around out there.......
I'm sure that in Canada there are lots of members who, if they were called, would help a fellow member out....It would be a dream of mine to visit Canada, and ride it from one coast to the other..It is from what pictures I have seen is a beautiful place....And just to know that I won't be alone on that trip across Canada would give me a warm and fuzzy feeling....
And if the Hatchman calls my home, and the wife answers, please don't play the music from the twilight zone......Your ears would ring for weeks, when she hangs up on ya...... ......
Claude.....

One thing wrong here is that I keep seeing people refer to the fact that there are over 10,000 members.
Really there isn't. I run a BBS of my own, and I have over 200 or 300 spammers for every legitimate member. People have websites such as porn and gambling and cheap viagra and so on, so they like to sign up and post their website so that the Google bots will see their website listed out there and it will raise them higher in the search results. I spend time every month working on deleting these buggers.
Just to see how we really stack up, I just went to the members list on this forum and did a sort by the number of posts.
There are approx 600 members with over 100 posts. Thats all. Only 600 people have made it to 100 posts.
If you ask me 70 is a pretty good list for only 600 active members. It's over 10%. Not too bad for a first call/first draft. If we continue to talk it up, by this time next year, we'll probably have a couple hundred, maybe more.
But expecting a percentage of 10,000 members isn't realistic.
I realize that CCSAILOR was probably starting this thread "tounge firmly planted in cheek" and probably laughing to himself the whole time, and his little "tirade" will probably generate several more on the list, so for that I say: Good on ya, for those that can sign up, We understand for those that can't, and those that just found out.... We want you if you can do it.... the more we have the better it will be for all of us.
By the way, I am on one list, but I didn't pay attention to the other one, so I'll have to look at that when I get home and get myself on it.
