I did the 10,000 mile ride in 1990 and 1991. Anyone else here. I enjoyed the heck out of those trips on a 1979 KZ1000 Kawasaki. Back when I did my trips a guy on a 1984 Goldwing completed the ride 7 times in 4 yrs including 3 times in one summer alone. That's a lot of riding and vacation time I wish I could have!

I'd like to do it, but I'll never be able to dedicate enough time to it, all in one piece.

Is there a specific route set up or specific stops on the ride. That could be a great ride.

I would also like to do it, but the time and money plane in my life never seem to work out.
I have a few other rides I want to do before that one.

There's no specific routt. The way it works is you ride to any of the 4 corners, which are Madawaska Maine,  Key West Florida, San Ysidro Cal, Blaine Washington. This is your starting point of the oficial ride. You get a gas receipt and take a picture of your motorcycle next to the post office or whatever to prove you were there. From there you head to another corner and repeat and so on until you visit all 4. Send in your receipts and pictures to the ride organization and that's all there is to the rules. You have 21 days to complete the entire ride after starting at the first corner which will be 6000-7000 miles or so. So if you have the time 7000 miles in 21 days is not that grueling. I only got 2 weeks vacation, so had to do the whole ride in that time including travel from home to corner 1 and corner 4 back home which didn't leave time to play games.:)

Of course when I did it gas was $1 a gallon and I could generally find a Motel 6 or equiv for $20-$30 a night. Times have changed I'm afraid.

Y'all let me know when you're coming through San Ysidro. I'll gladly meet you and take your official picture.

Ok, here's the plan, everyone interested there is a sign up sheet in the lobby (the bell hop can show you where it is). Then in the summer of 2010, the group will meet in Maine, then from there we'll head south to Florida, over to California, up to Washington, then back to Maine where there will be a group picture to comemorate the occassion. Redwing will be collecting the sign up sheets, so be sure to get your name on it quick, there's only 1200 spots, once they are filled there will be more spaces added. see ya'll in Maine. :grinner::grinner::grinner::grinner:
