Can anyone steer me in the direction of a communication radio that will work from bike to bike, other than a CB radio. When my Brother and I go riding locally we are thinking that it would be nice to be able to verbally communicate with each other. I can't help but think that there is some kind of wireless intercom that would work between bikes. I have a HAM radio license, but was thinking of something less expensive that didn't require a license, and could be used by all!
Thank You

The key in your question is "can be used by all"
There are many good bike to bike communication systems available on the market and Wexman has mentioned one, but each rider would need to purchace a similar unit in order to communicate. This is fine if you tend to ride with the same one or two friends, but the CB will be more universal, amongst Wing riders and some Harleys too I believe.
There are fairly reasonably priced two way communication units, some of which take a headset and have a push to talk button that you can buy additional units for, that might be worthconsidering if you always ride with the same folks, but you won't be able to talk to or hear others on different systems.
As you say, Ham is an option, but again, there aren't too many bikes fitted with it, so chatting will be limited.

If you are looking for an expandable system, then why not use FRS or GRMS radios. There are company's out there that make helmet headsets to be used with these radios. I had a set for a while, but then the wife decided she didn't want to talk to me while we were riding.

My wife and I use our cell phones with a headet and tuck the mics up in the helmet.
We don't pay for calls to each other, so it's free, and it beats buying a in-helmet system, although I *would* like one in the future. The down side is that we can't talk to anyone else, and we can't accept calls, but other than that it works well.

Christine and I use CB, which means we can also communicate with other riders in group rides.
Our friends Black Bart and Valkyrie use Chatterbox and they find it veryy effective for what they need.

There are a couple of helmet makers coming out with Bluetooth helmets. I found one called Daianese(spelling?) with the Bluetooth built right into the helmet. They claim it is good for 200 to 300 feet between riders. Problem is I can't find anyone who sells them.

That is because they took them off the market ,they were having problems with them and pulled them ..But they say they will be bringing out a new version soon ,I have a danise helmet and I love it ,it is an open face with a flip up visor and built in sunglasses that flip down .They are made in Italy and are not expensive as helmets go ,Ciaran

Hopefully I can get to the Homeland and purchase a helmet. Seems like no one in the States knows about or is a dealer for these helmets. Maybe when the new helmets come out you can let me know.

Pricy, but they seem to be worth it.
