Oh ya, sure, you betcha then there y'know.

Boy oh boy do you ever need a Wing again! Soon!!
Don't get me wrong, Wingednut, I love North Dakota..... really do..... I meant that my mother made me look like something of of the movie, "Fargo!"
But you're right, I do need another Wing, and soon!

I just couldn't resist CJ. No offense taken. And yes, another Wing soon" are the operative words. We are an odd lot aren't we?

All thru my teens I had Army surplus field jackets.
Olive green WWII leftovers.
Also my first riding jacket because back then we had one coat for all occasions.

| Iv got the typical black leather biker jacket and I wear it everytime Im on my bike. As far as raising my temp, nope, not for me it doesnt as long as Im moving. The zippers at the cuff allow great air flow through the sleeves. I went on a 100 miler the other day and temps were at and above 100 degrees, I was just fine. I sweat a bit on that ride but it was my lower back.

I got my first motorcycle (Yammerhammer YZ-125) when I was 13. Along with it came a full set of racing leathers, boots, gloves, helmet, goggles...the works. My mother had a fit when my dad bought it for me, and laid down the edict that if she ever saw me riding it without the full suit on (which dad replaced pieces of every time I outgrew them), the bike would be gone.
I carried that fear around until my mother passed in 1989, up until then, I wore head to toe street racing leathers whenever I rode.
I think I bought my first actual motorcycle jacket in the fall of '90. Still have it, although I've gotten too fat to wear it. Back then black leather with fringe was popular...so that's what I bought.
Lucky for me it fits my girlfriend now, and women look better in fringed jackets...so I don't have to buy her a jacket.
I do, however, have my father's leather jacket. 1938 Genuine Harley Davidson jacket (complete with that UGLY tartan plaid lining), only thing missing is the belt (dad hated it and threw it out in '38). It's a size 38 (dad wasn't very big), and if I could find a collector, would probably finance a summer's worth of riding.

Now I ain't speakin for anyone one but me, but some others may be interested to know something about some of us old bastards that don't wear the leathers in the summer after the temps hit a certain high.
There are some medical problems and meds that restrict us from allowing our bodies to get over heated. We compensate by using neck cooling bandannas and cooling vests, but can not wear air jackets or leather by any means in the summer. I personally wear protective clothing anytime I can but there is a point when I either ride without it or don't ride at all, and I chose to ride. Hell I'm old enough now if I'm snuffed, then I can't say I didn't live it to the fullest.

Yeah it does that. You know the Army denied me the first two times cause I was under weight. That was back in 1961.

Its really funny that someone brought up "easy rider".....Back before I joined the forum, we went to the Traders Village Flea market to the biker shops to buy me a helmet, gloves, and was looking at the leather jackets and chaps.....This one shop made me a "deal" on this helmet....I liked it right away its very American with its red and white strips with a blue top with white stars on it.....Looked great until someone posted a thread about "Easy Rider" ..and then it was OMG...... ....My new helmet is the same helmet worn by Peter Fonda in that movie....Only difference is mine has a tinted face shield with a visor.......Now it kinda matches the leather jacket I have now, this leather jacket has red and white strips on the sleeves and around the back and front.....Nice leather jacket with zip out liner and extra leather at shoulders, lower back, and elbow areas.......
Now I'm not picky about that helmet but every time I put in on , I get this uneasy feeling that if I wear it some rednecks in an old pickup will take me out...... ......

when I first started riding, only thing I would wear was a black leather jacket. No way I would be one of those yuppie type freaks wearing those mesh jackets. As time wore on, I now find myself wearing the mesh and rarely wear the leather. When I got caught in the rain, the leather coat weighed a ton, mesh jacket shrugs it right off. Leather did not have a removeable liner, mesh did. Mesh has the air vents so I can wear it when it is hotter out without sweating to death etc etc etc...
Of course now I have added a gps, floorboards, fairing, trunk and at times even carry a laptop with Microsoft streets and maps loaded in it.......basically everything I never wanted to be. As I age tho, comfort outstrips my ego

Do you know why leather jackets are so expensive for us now?
They have to use two cows to make one!
