Don't they just raise your thermostat?  Even after all these years?

Back before the earth cooled, when I was about 12, mum sent me to town with a shiny new $20 bill to get a new school coat.....

I found a shiny, black leather "Motorcycle Jacket" on the rack....zippers up the sleeve, a belt, chrome snaps, and a cool wing collar that you could stand up!  Damn I looked good in that jacket!   Kind of like Young James in "Vincent Black Lightning 1952."   Cost $19.95.... had a nickle left in my pocket!

When I strutted into our house, my mother took one look and said, "no......"

"Mom," I yelled, heartbrokenly, but to no avail.

She made me take it back and exchange if for a plain plaid Macinaw with a fake fur collar..... made me look like a farmer, like something out of "Fargo."  Never forgave her.  My whole life changed in that instant......

It was awful to be twelve........

(as you can tell, I'm bored to the bone!   I need a Wing again!)

Don't feel bad Cousin Jack I bought my first "leather" Harley type jacket at 15 yrs old, same year I bought my first Cushman scooter, And boy was I cool looking......But all good things must come to an end and so when a 57 Ford did a panic stop in front of me, and my 1930's football helmet, the head coach at school gave all of us "bikers" these old football helmets to give our ugly faces some protection, My leather jacket was torn up so bad I had to chunk it...The football helmet slid down over my face, it was too big any how, and that saved my face from becoming more ugly that it was....

Last "Harley"ones I bought was in 1978, one for me and one for the wife, our daughter took them for her and her boyfriend, didn't know until it got cold that they were missing.......The leather jacket I have now my wife bought it before she bought me my wing......That was the same day we drove to look at this Wing she found..... It is a Burlington Coat Factory special.....it has a red and white design on the front and back and sleeves, with extra padding in the shoulders and elbows...its a Desert Well leather jacket with a zip out liner...It was $79.00 but my wife got it for $49.00 on a close out....They had the "Harley " type jackets , but all in small....not my size....:cheeky1:...

Will I ever buy another Harley type leather jacket...probably not.....I'm too old and too fat to look "cool" any more.....And I don't think hearing some 4 year old hollering " Look mommie Santa Clause riding a motorcycle"........would make my day....

Claude....

I got my 1st leather at 14....it was used, but had about 4 buckles & 10 zippers....way cool!

With a swithblade in my rear pocket, cleats on my shoes, a smoke on my ear, wrap-around shades & a condom ring showing on my wallet.....I looked just like half the kids in Detroit.

Also, got my 1st bike that same year, but it never occurred to me to wear that leather with it....I didn't have a DL anyway.

What a punk!

Cousin Jack and redbaron must of been the cool "wild One" Brando types in Jr High School. I had the Davy Crockett Fess Parker look back then. I had my brown suede leather with fringe. I thought it looked pretty cool.

Ah, the "Dennis Hopper Look" in Easy Rider. :cheeky1::cheeky1: I had my first leather jacket after I was out on my own at 16, I recon I out grew that one, went to a denim jacket, I think I still have it, won't fit, now I have a plain leather jacket that I bought about 10 years ago at a Flying J's truck stop, ($12) still looks good, still fits, but most of the time, I'll just wear either my plain black leather vest (for work use) or my decorated leather vest (for riding and get togthers).:D:cooldevil:

Good ol' Levi Jean Jacket here. Wore it in cool and hot weather. And picked up a xl Snow mobile  jacket by mistake at the PX in Great lakes, Ill, after boot camp in 74. I really wore a med-large then
I think I still have both although they wouldn't come close to fitting me now

Ah, memory lane, I got my first real bike at 8. She was a beauty, orange paint job, ape hanger handle bars, springer front end. She had a nice wide back tire, that was slick, no tread at all on it. 5 gears to run through. Never thought about getting a leather jacket, I would a looked kinda silly wearing it while riding my

I never had a black leather jacket. I do have an Army Air Corps G-1 brown leather jacket that I' e been wearing for the past thirty five years. Those old goat skin jackets wear like iron. The fur collar is a bit used looking and the jacket is a bit big on me now but it's kinda like an old friend, doesn't need to fit perfectly it's earned the right to hang however it wants to.

You know of course it's not proper for Japanese bike riders to wear black leather jackets, you're supposed to wear brown leather.

I remember my first pvc vinyl jacket. It almost looked like leather....till you caught it on something. They would tear up pretty easy.

My setiments exactly.. l:toast:

When I first picked up my 85 gl1200. I never really knew the color name but it was tan looking and had brown seats. So I searched high and low for a brown bombers jacket. I finaly found one similar at Wilson's Leather in one of our outlet malls. man, that sucker is heavy. But it is very warm.
