Here is a poll to see  how often our members wear a safety helmet.

Laws, job site, location, and personnel preference may influence our use of a safety helmet.

I personally do not wear a helmet all the time.  Stupidity or not, it is a life choice.

I wear helmet to and from work since I work on a military base.  I also tend to wear a helmet in cold weather.

Ride safely.

Poll to run 30 days.

I wear the helmet when commuting around the Houston area. (Blinkers area warning not a question.) But when out on the open highway I choose not to always wear one.

Wife and I always wear them. It actually feels strange without it on. Even if(when) Missouri changes their laws, I will continue to wear it.

I always wear my helmet when riding. If it improves my chances of survival, then it is a no brainer(pun intended) for me.

As an MSF instructor I have to wear a helmet, at all times. Been doing it for so long I feel uncomfortable not wearing one.

You should have added ‘have no choice’. If I had a choice…..not all the time.

Always - even if it was not the law in all of Canada. Not trying to start anything  &  I know there are different views - but as for  the "it's my life & it won't effect anyone else philosophy " I've never known a traffic injury whether it be fatal or debilitating, that does not have a domino effect on people unknown to the injured. :baffled::baffled: Ride Safe .:waving::waving:

It's the law in Oregon, but I would anyway. Too many folks I know have survived because of one. I busted one many years ago...I hate to think what my head would have been like had I not been wearing one.

We had a mandatory (adult) helmet law in WI at one time.  I was in one of the protest rallys in Madison (1970s), thousands of bikes, what a sight to behold...we protesters protested, specifically, the constant police harrassment, costly fines, and being made into criminals, for merely not wearing a helmet.  Of and by itself, it is NOT a criminal act.  We protested for the basic right to choose.

This was also a time of gasoline shortages and rising prices.  Folks were then, like now, buying smaller cars & motorcycles & scooters as much to conserve as for any other reason.

Admittedly, helmet engineering has progressed significantly since then...so some of you might agree that it was harder to glom onto a quality, lite-weight, ventilated fit back then, at an affordable price.

Just so you younger folks understand both sides, back then, insurance company lobbying had a lot of influence in making the laws, and states were "blackmailed" with threat of withholding Federal highway revenues if they failed to make these laws.  Wyoming, being the independent folks they are, legislated their helmet law, but were somewhat reluctant to enforce it...bless their little pea-pickin' hearts!

Since it will be everyone's tax dollars that pay for the Highway Patrol and whoever else to come out and scrape what remains of my brains off the road, my not wearing a helmet would truly impact everyone.  I choose not to do that so I wear a helmet whenever I ride.
