I took two years of Latin and two years of Spanish in high school until they threw me out. Lousy deal, after two years of Latin I found out the Romans were all dead. The Espanol they taught was Castillian which is a slightly different dialect than that used in Mexico. So after all that effort I couldn't talk to the Romans or the Mexicans. But I was able to read Caesar's Commentaries in the original Latin so it was worth the work. Unfortunately it's true that what you don't use you lose.
