Been following this thread and I know work is being done to post yet another video of a CT on the M/C.  Is there a video of the MT tire on the M/C from the same or similiar angle?

And one other question.........If the car tire works so good, and no I have no experience with one, why doesn't Honda install them from the factory?

The contact patch on the MC tire isn't any wider than the CT gives when leaning over.

Let's compare this with Ciaran's video when it gets put up next week.

A better question is, if they did start using car tires on new bikes what would the whine bags do then? Find something else they know nothing about to bash I suppose.

I agree. One thing I'd like to know is, what is the ply of these car tires everyone is running. The ply rating on my MC tires is 3.

The ply rating on my Goodyear Excellence run flat is six with weight load of 1,201 pounds at 50 psi max. I usually run at 39 psi with or without my trailer.

1201 pounds at 50 psi max is what the side wall will withstand which is 400 pounds more than a MC tire.

I've been reading a lot of these threads about running a CT, and it interests me.  I would like to see contact patch videos of a MC tire, then a CT, ran on the same bike, by the same rider, on the same course, at similar speeds,  with both tires inflated to the proper pressure (CT's pressure as suggested by seasoned CT runners).

So far, the videos I have seen of CT's run on a MC, the contact patch looks equal to, or better than a MC tire.  You gotta love the tread on a CT versus a MC tire.

I'm somewhat concerned about the insurance issue, but unless they could prove the CT contributed to the accident, then I think is is not an issue, and that would be hard to prove.  Plus, someone dealing with that could call some of these long term CT runners in as expert witnesses to argue the point!

I have an airbag model with ABS.  The manual only recommends Bridgestone or Dunlops as pair so the ABS sensors are matched sufficiently on the front and rear tires.  I would think several of the CT runners have ABS?

** Has anyone had any issues with the ABS running a CT?

** Anyone know of any issues with the Airbag model running a CT?.

(This may sound like a dumb question, but I wouldn't have thought a fender extension

would be an issue, but it is for the Airbag sensors.  Can't see how the tire would be a

problem, but maybe the speed sensors affect that too?)

One thing is for certain, when you buy a MC tire, you sure pay a lot of money for a tire that wears out so fast.  Both the recommended Dunlops and Bridgestones hardly have any tread on them when you buy them!  And why aren't run flat MC tires readily available?  Seems more important to have a run flat on a bike than a car, especially on the rear.  They can't even sell us that safety feature?

the importance of good tires is often overlooked by bikers. I have seen some worn tires on Motorcycles that just make you shake your head. If a person does not have the money for the tire though, they make that choice to ride or not. It is a hard choice on a nice day.

I have never seen run flats for Motorcycles, but I do know there are tires with harder sidewalls that hold up much better during a flat or blowout. Many Police departments use them on their Motorcycle fleet.

Beginning of summer, I replaced the orginal tires on my 1800, at a little over 10,000 miles.  The back just looked too thin on tread.  They were Dunlops.  Then when I looked at the new tires, I realized I took my old ones off too soon.  They could build better tires for the 1800, that's for sure.

so far I am liking the stock tires on this thing, but I only have a couple thousand miles on them. When I get to 10 I will be asking the same questions as you. I will be checking into those Police style tires though.
