I just hope he remembered what the yellow wire is for!!

Besides all the online help there have been numerous "In person" cases of assistance. I would like to tip my hat to AVA Auto Tech for steering me through a belt and seal refit earlier this year. It's that kind of generous assistance and sharing of knowledge that makes Saundersville such a nice place.

I'm proud to give major kudos to bagmaster (Michael) of Jonesville, SC. I was going to add my name to the list for the carb synchronizing program and Michael sent me a message inviting me over to his house where we did the job. I'm still defrosting from the ride back, but the bike has never run sweeter! The chilly 50 mile ride each way was well worth it! It's just amazing how much difference synching the carbs made. The bike is stronger at take-off and smoother at highway speeds. Now I'm hoping to finally break that 40 mpg barrier- I've always gotten 39.something, lol. Thanks, bagmaster, for taking the time to help and educate a complete stranger.

I didn't post it on the site, but someone else no doubt did! I'd like to thank my best UK mate, Pete (Silverfox), and my new next-to-best mate, David (tanygaer), for collecting my sorry a**e, not 25 miles from David's farm in north Wales last summer, after I carefully merged my "motorbike" over the curb/pavement, in the dark and the rain, trying to let someone pass me by! They didn't; they stopped to help, and stayed a long while, so.....yes, Wales is a very user-friendly place to travel! David, thanks so much to you and your family for the incredible hospitality, and helping salvage my "summer vacation". You're aces, mate, as are all your lovely family....watch out for the cute Leprechaun though....she covets the keys to your Wing! Pete, you have been, and you continue to be, the very best. Thanks for recovering my motorbike. I still owe you and Helen a return trip to Tahiti. And you thought I was kidding when I said "Don't let me near your GL1800! She's your baby!" Shockingly, I try to live up to the example you guys set.

Motorcycle Pete... you owe me nothing since you always seem to come bearing gifts, and my ready use tool kit is all the better for it.

Whilst we are on the subject of well wishes i would dearly like to thank all those that took a moment to wish me well with my back operation and recovery period, your words mean so much when you are not sure of the long term outcome after surgery

Has it been the life changing op that you hoped for?

I would like to thank Cyote61 and Stephanie for hosting NASSIR 1, for all their hospitality letting people camp there, meet there and even supplying the whole crowd with food from money out of his pocket. I would like to thank all the people that helped organize and worked NASSIR 1, including planning and guiding our rides to the Dragon's Tail, the karaoke, auction, slow ride contest and engine syncing demos! I would like to thank all the people from around the world that sang to my wife Patty (Button Lady) on her 50th birthday while at NASSIR 1. Boy did that get me a bunch of brownie points!

I'd like to mention Dan Filipi, who not only diagnosed my coil issue over the phone but sent me a set of coils and only asked that I reimburse him for the shipping charges. I'd also like to mention S Clark who sent me a rear rotor again only asked to be reimbursed for the shipping cost. And there are far to many to list, that have offerd a kind word, a prayer, a laugh or an answer to tech question tha thave all just made my life so much richer simply by being there and being themselves. I simply do nto have the words, to convey the gratitude, amzement and heart rending awe I feel toward all those who went into their own pockets and sent me money a while back when my financial situation was looking terminal. I am still struggling, but I made a vow at that point, that no one knew of until now. A vow to NEVER be in that position again. To accept such an gift and be grateful is one thing. To allow myself to end up in the same postion again is unacceptable. that would be an embarassment i could not and would not tolerate. Anyway...The good of this forum could never be contained in a single thread, or even a hundred threeads, it's worth is imeasurable.

I would like to thank D-ROD and The Button Lady for allowing me to use their Buffalo New York home address as a delivery drop for my Ebay purchases. It has saved me exorbitant UPS shipping and brokerage charges. Most Ebay sellers do not like to ship to Canada. Using their American address has allowed me to have more options in purchasing bits and pieces for my 1800. Then again I am wondering if I am really saving money?? By the time I buy the Boss lunch and am allowed to pay for her shopping its hard to say. Then again she always allows me to pay for lunch.Must be her Scots heritage, Short arms and deep pockets LOL. thanks again John

A quick shout out to Goldtop, who yesterday came out of his way to bring me a gratefully received chrome rack for my GL1000 to help it being restored to origional spec. He refused payment of any kind saying it was just cluttering up his shed. Very generous of him and I hope one day I can do something for him in return.
