I committed a random act of kindness this week. I was on an early morning flight (Tuesday) from Invercargill to Wellington New Zealand and a woman (Karen) beside me said that she had left her handbag on the kitchen table as she hurried for the taxi at 5:30am. Her phone and money etc were in it and she had no way of contacting her sister who was going to pick her up from the airport. I offered her my phone for when we landed but she could not remember her sister's cell phone number. There was no one at home to retrieve the information till evening. As I was being picked up by a car I offered to drive Karen to where her sister was waiting. She took me up on that offer. I also discovered, through conversation that Karen had no money/credit cards etc but she had her boarding pass on her pocket and was able to board the plane. We manager to find her sister in a nearby carpark still waiting for a call to pickup. I then took $100 note from my wallet and handed it to Karen to help out and told her not to hurry to get back to me. I was not expecting any further contact with Karen for a while as we have suffered a large earthquake in Christchurch which has disrupted travel plans for 10,000's of people. Anyroad Karen turned up this morning (Sunday) to return the money and thank me for the kindness. For myself I was only too pleased to be able to help and would like to think that someone would help me out in similar circumstances. P.S. My wife was very good about me giving away $100 to a stranger.

Me and the wife was in line at the grocery store and the elderly lady that was in front of us didn't have enough money on her ebt card to cover her grocery's. I told the cashier to ring it up and I would pay the difference.. The feeling you get from helping people far out weighs the few dollars it cost me..

I did a good deed yesterday I think. Was coming home from my aunt's funeral, 400 mile round trip. Stopped at a rest area and there were 2 other guys there on bikes. The older one asks if I have change for a $20, I said I don't believe so and started to look in my wallet and he told me his younger brother was diabetic and needed a coke (soda) or something to get his sugar up and the smallest he had was a $20. I pulled out my wallet and handed him a buck ($1) and he was then able to buy the coke. I would have preferred he didn't tell his brother where he got the money but he did and they both thanked me generously and we talked bikes a while, they were fascinated by the wing. Just a dollar and it made me feel good and might have prevented a serious problem. I don't wonder who or what made me stop there, I know.
