Every day i get emails from SS Forum that I do not want!  Federal law says that he must give me a way to opt out.  I can't find it!

I like the forum but stop the emails!

Federal law doesn't really cover web sites run in Ireland. There is more to the world than the USA! :)

Go to Account Preferences and deselect the checkbox next to "Always notify by e-mail when replies posted to topics you participated in".

You had your email notifications preferences in your Watched Forums set to send you daily digests of replies to all posts, ie you opted-in for these yourself by changing the default no notification settings and you can easily opt-out the same way. I've turned them off for you in your account this time (in future please do it yourself) and once the backlog clears from your mail provider that will be that. You will need to go in and change things to the way you want as I've completely zeroed all your options (PMs, PM notifications, Watched Forums etc).

Instructions for how to set up email preferences are in the forum HELP page and control of how this works lies solely in each members own hands, not mine. I spent quite a lot of time laying out the help pages and the forum tutorials in the Test forum and the answers to how the forum works are all in there. Anyone unsure of how this works please take time to read them first. Since early 2009 all new members get an automatic welcome PM which contains all the helpful information they need, including a link to the Help page and to a newbies forum posting guide. Here is a relevant paragraph from the Help page;

"Q. When will I get e-mails from this forum?
A. Only when you opt for e-mail notification of replies to your posts (you can turn this option on or off in your profile) and of course your account activation e-mail when you first register. You should set your anti-Spam filter to recognize the notifications otherwise you won't know if you have any replies to your posts unless you log-in. You can opt to be notified of new messages in the "watched forums" part of your profile. If you opt for the daily digest, you will get an e-mail every day of new messages posted. If you opt for e-mail notification of every new post, you will get an e-mail every time someone posts a new message. So be careful! You can of course turn the e-mail notifications on or off whenever you wish and untick all the forums in MY ACCOUNT>WATCHED FORUMS to receive no notifications..."

The Help page is also available from the menu on the right side of the forum and here is the direct link;

http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/drwCustom.php?page=forum_help

I hope all this helps you and anyone else with similar questions. :waving:

I took a quick screengrab of your preferences boscoporp before I zeroed them. Here is how you had it set, to receive digests for all posts in most of the forums. Like it says in the Help page, you need to be careful with this or you will get flooded with notifications, and it is up to each member to set the notification preferences to suit themselves;

Wowsers as I think old Alf used to say (anyone remember Alf?), thats like drowning yourself in a sea of emails. :cooldevil:

I guess we should read the small print. :2finger: but then again, how many of us ever read the small print or the help posts the old wingnut spends so much time making for us? :cooldevil:

I just wing it. I know there must be a help post for changing my avitar photo but I'm too lazy to go look for it. If I mess it up it will be easier to PM the wingnut and ask for help, than to go looking for the help posts. :cheeky1:

I really thought I had it that time, I can still only see the stock forum avitar of front end of a red gl1800, but my own picture is showing in my avitar page.

I see an avatar of what I guess is you sitting on a red GL1800. Side view from the right and wearing a black jacket and black jeans.
If you are still seeing an older avatar, hit F5 a few times to clear the cache and your new avatar should pop up.

Hey!  What do you mean a "girly" thing?  I never read directions.  I try to figure them out my self and then ask CJ if all else fails! :action:

Man... If I could encapsulate that statement into a pill and feed it to everyone here in the good 'Ol USofA, I think the world would be a better place.
