As just about everyone on the forum knows, my '94 GL1500SE was totalled out in a collision with a semi-rig, it nearly got me too.

I have not been able to replace it for various reasons, but when I saw Fred's xsxlr8r  bike come up for sale......
http://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/forum6/85242.html

ummmmmmm, what can I say?

I just retired 35 days ago, and I need a pick-me-up to brighten my days.

So, here she is in all her glory

It looks like I will be on I-75 a bit, and then pretty much along I-10 heading west for warmer pastures.  :cooldevil:

Just wondering how many of you folks are along that route?  Some mini meet 'n greets would be a lot of fun, and my camera is hungry for some faces to capture :waving:

Tentatively, this might happen the 2nd week of March but that is speculation as of now.

I am hoping to hit Houston on Saturday of that trip, I've been told that I will be shot at sunrise if I don't stop there for a couple of days :action:

So what say?  Anyone want to see my new toy?  :)

John , if you can spare the time of a slower pace , you might enjoy going home by way of US19/98 . That goes the same general direction as I75/I10 but much less traffic. It will get you out to the panhandle . I hope to see you in March .

John I have already posted about you coming through Texas in the Events forum under Texas Ride....I'm sure that I for one, am not the only person who wants to see your "New Baby", and drool on it, I meant admire it....So when you get exact dates, we will leave a light on for you.....Shot at Sun Rise???? We don't do that any more, us Texans have become more, well a bit more civilized..We now have to wait till the morning traffic rush is over and everyone has had their latte from Starbucks....Dawn is now out.....:cheeky1::cheeky1::cheeky1:....Looking forward to your visit we will find a extra bed some where...

Just to clarify a point John, you and the wife will be going in her car pulling a trailer to go get it right???

John, like Claude said, we don't do much shooting at sunrise:D:D:D

Personally I'm up way before that and if you come thru and don't stop at least for lunch or supper, well I can't be responsible for what happens.............

I would love to meet you and your Mrs. if she comes along. If it's a weekday, that's fine, I have plenty of vacation time built up, just give us an idea when and someone will be there to give you an hard time.....:waving::waving::waving::waving::waving:

John, when you start back home with the bike, I know you'll pass by Panama Beach where Xtracto lives so let us know if you plan a stop there. We might just be able to swing the funds to come down there and camp for the weekend. I just hope my wife is back from Texas by then. She's going out there tomorrow for a month to help her sister deal with some family matters.

Congrats John. You deserve it. Too bad you're going to be on the southern route, I know Arkansas would welcome you with open arms.

If it were me, John, I'd be keeping off of those deadly Interstates and smelling the flowers on your trip back home.  :baffled:

No BIG rush to get home, now that you are retired.   ;)    Besides, it'll give you and your new ride a chance to get better acquainted and used to being back in the saddle again!

Mike, I was looking at that route last night thinking "I would like to see some country side and not all Interstate.   Fred lives in Spring Hill, FL so that will be the starting point going back  home.

My time will be my own sort of.  I'm flying down on Cattle Call, figure an over night somewhere in FL just drifting westward and looking to make as many Meet 'n Greets as we can arrange.  I am not going to have a schedule that must be made. This is going to be a vacation for me.

As of now, I think I will overnight in the Houston area.  Will be trying to make that part of the trip hit a weekend so I can plant my feet back down in my old home state for a while :D and renew acquaintances and see new faces there to put with old friends we have made on the forum here.

Talked with the wifey last night, er uh, that's Mardonna :D and she agrees that letting me buy a SPOT GPS tracker won't be too big of a luxury for the new bike.  :cooldevil:

So, when I get that activated, it will be in tracking mode and I will have a link to the web page for it.  That way, meeting up with new faces for old friends will be a lot easier.

The tracker has a custom message that can be used also, think I will include my cell phone number in that message.

I'm getting excited already :clapper:,  it has been way too long without a Goldwing in the family.

Ken, I'll be using the I-10 as a general direction device :cooldevil:, but there are a lot of Mom and Pop places to visit on the way home, and those surely won't be planted on the Interstate :waving:

While in AZ take a ride North to Bullhead City and ride 66 through Oatmen and then to Kingman.  Look me up if you should go North.
