Anyone gone back to the beginning of this thread and noted the original itinerary? It was almost rigid, a day here, a day there, then somewhere else, moving everyday. What has actually happened, is that I am spending time with my family members instead. An overnight or nights, and days spent with them just doing "what comes natcherally". Be that a grocery store trip, or a car parts store, or drive over the bridge "because it is there". Or, just sit down in the kitchen, learn more about the Spanish language from listening to all of the intercultural interplay of the family switching in/out of the the two languages as though it were just "one language". The effect is just so beautiful, and I am soaking it all up in, every valuable morsel of the flavor. Tonight, Ruth and Mark gave me a day's lesson in different common words for the things we could see here in the room. Then a brief explanation of why the words change in use and how that effects the meaning. I took one semester of Spanish from a professor native from Mexico City, married to a Phoenix mathematics's engineer. She is so fluent, her PHD is languages. What a pleasure to learn from her. But that was 3 years ago, and with my accident in January of 2008, I have not had a chance to use Spanish since. It all disappeared, or so I thought. Tonight it started flowing back, and Ruth and Mark helped me add on new words. I truly believe, that if I could stay here with them a few months, I would be at least semi-comfortable in the Spanish culture. Here are pictures of their family. Aaron is Joselin's boyfriend, so don't go jumping to conclusions ahead of time, eh??? ![]() ![]() ![]() Open your eyes Mark! ![]() Okay you clowns, now that is over doing it.... ![]() They have just made me feel at one, and part of their family. I am so blessed on this trip. And, that is just another part of my story this trip.

Hi all, I have been a friend of John's for 14 years now. We sat across from each other and after 14 years, still were friends. If there is one person that deserves this kind of life, John does. Gods speed John. Remember, someone up there is really watching out for you up there.

Thank you Mark, That is how I feel about it also. Folks, I have never had a truer friend, who would absolutely go the last mile and give you the very last cent he owns than this gentleman. We are life long friends, and that is how it should be.

Yep, Like BamaEagle said ( Only a bit Different), You meet the Best Friends on a Honda. I lived in Fort Walton Beach in the panhandle for 10 years and when I seen your trip route laid out. I thought then, Even with no friends to stop at that the trip to Houston in one day was real aggressive ride. I am so tickled that you are enjoying yourself so much. It's a trip for us all to live your trip with you though the post's and pictures. Good Luck and Ride Safe. C Ya Mohawk PS, I'm with Wexy about the boards being a tad unsafe. To all our brothers and sisters who are watching Johns trip, you folks are what makes his trip such a, well, a trip! Knowing that we are all on common ground, and watching out for a brother on a long deserved trip of a lifetime, is just how Goldwingers are. I've never seen so much generosity and just plain old "goodness", till I found this wonderful forum. It is truly a part of our lives, worldwide! Makes me feel not so "alone" in this big plan of life. It's great to read posts of those following AZ across the continent, and how genuine the hospitality is everywhere he goes! Just had to say this to you all. What a wonderful family we have,eh? Ride on John, ride on! jimsjinx

Ole Spot is going to have to relearn his lazy ways Today, we are going to take a few minutes to fix the gas tank so it can be filled to the top without waiting for me to go click click click about 35 times. If it is NOT in the tank, I darn sure cannot use it for auxiliary fuel at the end of that "uh oh" ride..... Going to take a sashay around the town, find a chiropractor to fix my neck. I pulled something out of line 2 days ago when the White Knight decided to take a nappie poo. That extra 90 lbs on the pillion seat was more than I should have attempted to set back up. But, it is done, and I did it..... Now I pay for it, would have been cheaper to unload the bike, set it up, and reload it. So, the leash is coming off Ole Spot in about an hour.....

Oh, forgot to mention, just got off the phone with Dave, dwsonar down N'awlins way. Mark and I are pulling out of here tomorrow about noon, and drive over to Foley, AL and spend the night there with his mom. She's a young 88, drives her own car still, and bright of mind... Sounds like a wonderful gal, and I am going to enjoy meeting more of Mark's family. Now how can you have a better vacation than that? Meet the extended family of the Steve Saunders Internation Forum?? Dave is meeting us on the west side of N'awlins about noonish on Wednesday. There, he and I will continue on to the Wild Blue Yonder and see what is in front of our noses. So, stay on this channel, what ever time it happens, and follow my saga of the biggest, uncharted trip that ever happened to an ole retired (retreaded) geezer.....

Any family members want this on their 1500 ??? I can't handle the glare in the windscreen, so off it came. Some of the sticky peeled off, but most of it is still on the back side. Easy to just lightly coat it with something tacky and put it on yours. Shipping and it's all yours. that's cuz we family

Good man, I had seen that reflection in your pictures but just thought it was the color white on the tank. I am looking to replace the chrome Rear Speaker covers as they catch my eye in the mirrors at times and scare me into thinking a car snuck in real close to me without my notice. Always catches me a couple times a year, But EVERY Year. Grin Good Luck pal and have a Safe Ride. Mohawk

My '94 bike had two colors on it. Red w/SE trim and BLACK. No chrome anywhere, I loved it. This bike is going to slowly loose everything topside that will reflect into the windscreen. I cannot put up with glare, and I hate polishing stuff. That red/black bike, I washed it once a month, whether it needed it or not Oh, Spot has been put back on the leash until this afternoon about 2 PM when we go out again. Found an honest chiropractor who agreed to give me the same rate for an established patient, and a one time adjustment for my neck. She is certified acupuncture doctor also. That gave me a better degree of comfort in letting her work on me, that just a shingle hanging from the top side of the door frame of a person's own home. No, I will stay with one that has an office and office help at the desk, thank you.
