Ha ha ha, yeah, ole Spot's feet are going to need some warm rabbit fur on the edges.....

Nah, I been here long enough, and my escort has to work on Monday and is meeting me down at Edna this afternoon. Can't disappoint now can we?

it is supposed to warm up later to 59F by take off time, and Corpus Christi should be around 69F by the time we get down there. Shouldn't be to bad. I'll just layer off for take off and as the White Knight and I get a little farther west, will have to start taking the layers off.

Michael, I had always planned to stay right here at the Comfort Inn for two days. Get maximum exposure to my old Texas friends that way :cheeky1:

I'm enjoying the off time too, a little extra nappie poo never hurt a young growing lad....

speaking of naps, think I will go get me an extra one right now. :)

Coming home yesterday around 3pm somewhere in Alabama I was wishing for a nap also.

Yea, John, I knew you planned for 2 days in Houston.

Don't know about Ontario, but yesterday, I celebrated my big 70 with my whole family, and most of it was in our back yard. We enjoyed temps of around +20C with nothing but sunshine. For you southerners, that is about 70 F.

Today, my arm is a bit sore from throwing spirals.  Not sure what exactly is going on with this Wx, but I am definitely not complaining.

Keep the faith John, looks like you are having a real blast.

Sorry I didn't get to see you off this noon(ish), but it looks like I missed the whole weekend anyway :(. It would have been nice to see "The White Knight" and his new motorcycle. John - I think you may have a new name.

Be Careful, As you're finding out by now, the Texas wind can be brutal.

Godspeed!

Hey John, just rode back from Port A this morning.  On the island next to Corpus.  It was 40 degrees and a strong North wind!!!  ( 220 miles with a 30+/- mph cross wind )

Weather report I saw said Monday was going to be GREAT with 70 degrees plus and low winds!!  You hit it just right!  It will be cold in the morning, freeze warnings for early, but should warm up quick.

Spot says your between Victoria and Corpus right now.  Keep it up WHITE KNIGHT!!!

I'm workin this week, but let me know when you plan to be in S.A.  and we would enjoy your company if time permits.  Did I mention Monica makes the best chicken fried steak you ever put in your mouth??

This is your local forecast, hope it helps, see ya later this week...

Thanks Jeff,

I'm going to go bouncing around Corpus tomorrow and take a tour of the Battleship Lexington. Won't be turning Spot on tomorrow as I'm worried about the battery lasting until I get home. But, not really going anywhere anyway, just touring the coastline, and then back here to over night again with DrifterTex (Steve) and his very wonderful chef of a wife, Sara Lou.

Looking forward to that Chicken Fried Steak :)

Now, I've got to process the pictures from today, and write up the events before CRS gets all fuddled up.

Wow!  Woke up this morning to horizontal moisture and shrieks emanating from the window frame in my room.  Stumbled around to the necessary room, looked at the forum which looked to be real quiet and thought another nap sounded real good.

The TV was showing one of the Dog Whisperer shows where the star of the show was taming a pit bull to be as meek as a kitten.  Turns out the dog was being intimidated by the housewife, so Ceasar had to convince her to go see a counselor for sensitivity training and relaxation techniques.

Me?  I absorbed his teachings faster than she did, and I started sawing more logs before the show ended :cheeky1:

0700 came and I awoke again.  Did the usual morning duties and decided that I better go down and see what’s available for breakfast downstairs.  Peeked at the bike to see if she is okay, “yep, but that horizontal rain is still there”. Yuck!

Breakfast came and went, checked on the forum again, and oops!  Nappie poo time again.  :)

Next time I awoke, it was 11:30 and I hear a rapa tapa on the door.  The house maid asked when I would be checking out, took care of that and started packing up my stuff.

Got the bike packed, the bill paid at the counter, and started looking for my gear.  Got all suited up and brrrrr, it is still a bit nippy out there.   Headed west for highway 6 and followed that down to 59 and westward bound we went.

Rode by myself down to Edna and stopped at the Community Meeting Hall, er uh, the Whataburger :)

I was just pulling my riding jacket off when in rolls up this beautiful blue GL1800 asking if I was “John”.  It was Wing-Rider from Pasadena, TX.   Scott said that with all the rain and cold weather, he had decided not to go out today, but right at noon, the weather cleared enough to get his bike out, and he decided to run real fast down to Edna and meet up with me, DrifterTex (Steve) and Boone (Danny) who live a few blocks from each other here in Corpus Christi.

Everyone arrived within 15 minutes from first to last.  Great timing.  We all ordered up and spent an hour or so getting acquainted with each other.  A wonderful visit we had.  Then we all fired up our bikes and said goodbye to Wing-Rider as he had to get back to Pasadena.

DrifterTex and Boone and myself then sauntered on down the road towards Corpus Christi.  I found a few things to snap pictures of and then we arrived at Steve’s home.

Sara Lou had fixed up Party chili, cornbread, and tamales. Ummmmm, good……

Danny and his wife Cheryl had to leave and get home, Steve and Sara Lou have just this minute headed for the sack, and I am going to upload the pictures and then I am crashing also.

Here is the picture link, and as before, the Slideshow button is in the upper right corner.

Nice pics, John. Just never, ever ask me to eat in a Whataburger. Got food poisoning in one in east Ft. Worth one time and never set foot in one again.

Enjoy Corpus, it's a heck of a town to ride around in - esp. on a pretty day - tomorrow should be beautiful. The bird watching at the beach should be good this time of year.

Just as a FYI, What-a-burger made the 10 best burger places to ride and eat at in Texas. It was ranked #5 because of it's availability and consistency. Me, It was our main eating place for our schools sports trips (I coached soccer and cross country for 8 years at that school). It still ranks well above McDonald's for me, but ...

Have Fun John!

Whataburger is my favorite burger place. For the reasons you mention. Consistency and their food does not give me indigestion.

I had grilled chicken for yesterday's lunch. Good food.

When I lived in Fort Worth, I used to eat at a What-a-burger almost every day, A friends wife was the manager so I ate free. Oh BTW it was in east F.W.
Used to love their breakfast, and was only a couple blocks from the house.

Good Morning Goldwingers,
John I am glad you made it safely down to Corpus and Hope you have a Great Weather Day today and enjoy your tour of Corpus Christi. I am also glad the Texas folks are getting out and coming to meet you, to me it is an opportunity that comes far too seldom. I wish more of us were able to get out and take trips like this but maybe as many of us travel this summer, we will reach out to meet our fellow Goldwingers, it is so nice to be associated with such a nice group of folks. Continue to Enjoy your trip John and everyone who can, take the opportunity to go meet John, even if it is only for a short visit.
