:dude::dude:

heck yeah, what's another 5-8 hours off in the wrong GPS realm of routing :action:

I kind of doubt we get up that far northeasterly, but never can tell.  We are both (Michael & I) talking now about wandering downwards a bit and looking at alligators, and some other prominent places we have heard about in Florida.  When we turn around and start back towards Houston, no telling what part of Florida we will be in :dude:

Only thing in stone, is we gotta be in Houston at that hotel we mentioned earlier in the thread on Saturday March 20.  There be rumors that a big Texas Goldwing Shindig is in the works over there then  :cooldevil::cooldevil::cooldevil:

Hmmmm, sounding like my hotel money might best be converted into gas money to make all of those invitations.

Hmmmmm, I'm like it better all the time.  As the guy on the A Team said, "I love it when a Plan Comes Together"   :jumper:

And if the invites are right, you won't need the Hotel Money.

I'm sure the neighbors would kill me for this (imagining 25 or so Goldwings pulling up - coming and going), but if you're running short - we've got a Fold-out (better than a Futon) and a nice leather couch that can be slept on.

Of course, I'm on the wrong side of Houston for the rest of the plans you have, but I'm not that far away either - SE Side.

Whatever happens, I'm looking forward to your visit in this part of Texas.

I'm trying desperately to remember the actor, and I wanted to quote him so badly in that post.

Was it George Peppard?

I am writing down all the B&B invites :cheeky1:, seriously I really am. Because when it becomes noon time, and we have an idea of where we might be that day, or the 2nd day, getting in touch with one of our great forum family members might just be the thing to do for a night time stop. :waving:

Well, I've been spending most of the day just playing around..... dreaming stuff ya know.  :action:  like a new bike, what to put on it, little things like that.

Anyway, I thought that I would put up a kind of itinerary to sort of give you folks an ideer of where and when you can find us.

Of course, the SPOT will show you where we are, but in addition, you sort of need to know Where we are going.

so, here it is.

Arrive in Tampa on Friday, March 11th.

1st segment will be to meet up with Mike OnaWingandaPrayer, in fact, he has volunteered to pick us up at the airport and take us to get my new bike ….   Here at Fred’s place.

Then we follow Mike towards his place and find a straw mattress somewhere and stay the night.   Mike has Friday all planned out.

OnaWingandaPrayer
San Antonio Fl, Florida
Here at Mikes, we will meet up with Hawggy (Bob and Deb  Kincardine, Ontario Canada)

2nd Segment is going to be an all day affair with Mike and Hawggy wandering all over Florida.

3rd Segment is going to end up meeting with Mark and Ruth.  He tells me she throws one heck of a good meal on the table

Xtracho
Panama City Beach, Florida USA
Here’s what Mark told me “You guys just say the word. If I'm on the beach I'll be here at the house. Even if I'm not Ruth told me to tell y'all to stop by anyway and she'll make sure you're fed and have a place to overnight.”

The 4th segment if nothing else pops up, will be to go meet up with

jimsjinx    Alabama     and  Bikefix  Ball Ground, Georgia  sometime between Friday and the next Friday.   Lots of room to wander around the country here and meet them right at this little watering hole.

Hardies Restaurant
2633 Highway 231
Cottondale, FL 32431-7325

(850) 352-1097

After a nice evening spent with Jim and bikefix, we will saunter off down the road in a general westerly direction.   Gotta end up in Houston, Texas  for the  Sat/Sun 20th/21st of March.

Meet everyone here on Saturday, March 20th late morning or before.
Ask for that crazy Goldwing Bunch

Comfort Suites Houston
11440 Clay Rd.
Houston, TX 77084

these folks have mentioned they are traveling down to houston, so all of ya'll come, ya heah?

Geezerglider    Tyler, Texas   93Wing Montgomery, Texas   75 miles north of Houston hotel, see him at the MNG  and a slew of others have started up a jamboree for Goldwings at that Comfort Suites on Clay Rd.

We will be leaving there sometime in the afternoon on Sunday and heading down to see  DrifterTex    at  Corpus Cristi.   I asked him to try and come up and lead me back down to Corpus  J, ya see, I haven’t seen Corpus in 35 or 40 years, and I probably lost it and can’t find it anymore.

And, would you believe, another Bed & Breakfast down there in Corpus???   Steve claims it is parked real close to his house  :grinner::grinner::grinner:

After Corpus, we are going to stop in San Antonio, TX.   Find Joe Harrison's Honda shop and ogle at the Wings in there and see if they are as friendly as folks let on they are.

Then there is the Alamo which I haven't seen since 1964, and the River Walk which I have never seen, because it did NOT exist in 1964

After we do some slumming around in that town for a day or so, we will start drifting back up towards New Mehico and find an old restaurant I used to frequent there in the '90s.  Served up a fantastic Chicken Fried Steak. Cover the whole platter with bisquits and gravey.  ummmm, but, I just looked on the map at Deming, and I can't find it anymore.

Hey John,
By the time you get back to Az from Fl.and Tx. it should be close to the 100 degree mark. Maybe not quite that warm but it will definately be nice in the mornings.
I like your "spot" program!

Give it another week and conditions for riding in full gear will be perfect.  We ran to Myrtle Beach yesterday.  It was a bit nippy the first two hours of the day, like 28 degrees,  But it was a balmy 63 degrees for the ride home.

One more week and the heated gear can go back on the hanger in the closet.

John,

Today, actually that would be yesterday (It's now after midnight) when I rode threw SpringHill on my way back from The Tropical Wings Hawggy ride up to Cedar Key, (an excellent ride) It was 75 F.

So it should be warm enough for you when you get here.

As far as Florida excursions go, it's only about 480 or so miles from SpringHill out to KeyWest with the last 120 miles being on the Overseas Highway going out over the Florida Keys and bridges up to 7 miles long (be sure to stop at the TIKI Bar at Holiday Isle, Mile Marker 83)

Michael and I are really looking forward to spending a few days wandering around Florida.

Neither of us have ever been with in a 1,000 miles of that state. Anticipating a fun trip.
